50 Cent Accuses Fox of Copying His Marketing

Rapper 50 Cent accuses Fox's new drama 'Empire,' starring Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard of copying the marketing from his Starz drama 'Power…'

50 Cent made the accusations in a rant on Instagram later offering a withering comparison between his leading man Omari Hardwick and Empire's leading man Terrence Howard.

Omari wins all day, every day! That man...when he's changing his clothes after killing Rolla...yes, lord! Can't wait for Season 2, season 1 of Power was dope, but I'll be watching Empire too.

The shows seem to be similar... However I'm here for both of them... And Terrance Howard has nothing on Omari...

I love Power! I have not seen Empire yet.

Omari and all them a$$ naked shots seems suspect just like Curtis to me. I don't care for that show now lets hope Empire is not as coontastic, stereotypical and misogynistic.

Where's my peep I compare shows with (Scandal, HTGAWM)? I finally watched the entire season of Power, crazy!

Anonymous said...

There's room for both shows without 50 being catty. I stopped watching Power myself (Omari, as fine as he is, couldn't hold my attention), and will only watch Empire to support Taraji. Every network has a show similar to a show on a different/competing network. Not that big of a deal.

The marketing is only similar, because the actual SHOWS are similar. But do you hear anybody on Law & Order complaining about CSI, Criminal Minds, Stalker etc... Most TV shows are just slightly varied versions of other shows. Let's just all be happy that FOX (of all stations) is having a Prime Time African American television show. The End.

I had no desire to see Power but I will be watching Empire...

Yeah certain types of African Americans.

In real life Omari is married to a white women and yes under the suspect radar

Another old ass story from a wack ass bitch name snitch.

50 is using Empire to plug Power. Not mad at him for that. Power season 1 was awesome and I can't wait for season 2. Empire is a whole different set up. Power is the classic gansta drug dealer who wants to go mainstream but the game keeps pulling him back. Empire is about man who is dying that wants to leave a legacy and his family and they are fighting for position to run the company. Both are great shows and on the cutting edge. Plus can't we all just get along. Plenty of room for both shows. Support them both.

He is so lame - focus on that lawsuit - everyone copies everybody's idea - if the duplication succeeds yours so bless it be!

I thought this was Hustle and Flow part II - WTF 50 got to do with anything?

Anonymous said...

Power will Kill MFP in the ratings. I thought MFP was the Debarge family angry reunion.

Anonymous said...

"Power" is the show! Don't be bitter 50, it's enough change and spotlight for everybody. Everyone will compare the storyline of "Empire" to "Power" but just remember, you did it first. Originality trumps all. I love this show.

Exactly ^^ @10:53AM. Nothing is new under the sun so I don't know why 4-bits is complaining.

Terrance Howard and Omari Hardwick both hate black women so both leads will always be a lose lose to me. Don't forget how Omari when after everybody for calling his androgynous wife ugly and let's not forget how Terrance has been shading black women 4 years while praising white women who call him every racial epithet that can think of while trying to get him for every little penny he has, threatening his life and using the white privilege card tobeat him in every aspect of his life and openly disparaged his reputation. I say f*** them both and you could throw 50 in the box with them.

@12:49

Now that's REAL. I Do NOT support Negroes like this. Agreed. FUCK THEM BOTH.

@12:33 That 4 bits shit made me chuckle.

@11:34am, If Im not mistaken , The Power show was created by 50 and its his show (ideal)
Im not exactly sure but I think I read this in another thread
a few months ago

*shrug shoulders if im wrong"
Lol!

@12:49 - Real Talk; Thanks for the reminders

Anonymous said...

@11:24 and 12:49 Exactly
I can't stand 50 and don't watch either show.
I want to support Tariji BUT not if it means having to view "alternative" lifestyle crap at the same time. The Left really goes overboard in their agenda on TV period BUT especially on shows with prominent black casts. It's sickening that's why I don't watch TV like that

Anonymous said...

Can't wait to see this.

Anonymous said...

@11:12 AM It's 'woman' not 'women.' You make this mistake all the time. Why?

Anonymous said...

I agree 12:49 to the 1000th power.

Anonymous said...

how did this turn into a black man dating/married to a white woman so therefore they suck and projects shouldn't be supported thread? i LIVE for the actor that plays olivia pope's dad and he too is married to a white woman with bi-racial kids. the good thing about interracial marriage is that the black seed is spreading. white people will be the minority in america soon.

anyway imo the true star of power is Naturi. I like her. Omari is fine as hell and remind me of a light skin version of a fwb i used to have. dick game was proper! oh the memories.

i'll give Empire a chance because of Taraji.

50 is right to a point, but every rapper copies every rapper and nobody makes a fuss.

Anonymous said...

Oh 50 cents stop it. Because we all know you copied the whole concept and idea of your show Power, from an upcoming drama show as well, all because they didn't have enough money like you and you used your power to stop that show from happening any sooner. And that was hella grimmy. So karma is a bitch.

Anonymous said...

@241
Im sorry but you sound so stupid. 50 cents is just ignorant. Like someone said in the previous post, you dont see law & order, csi and criminals minds whining and complaining. please open your small mind. this is business. 50 cents couldnt come up with anything original if someone gave him the material to put together. hes not this created. he has writers and of coarse those writers use to work for other networks. damn no wonder we are still behind - small minds cant get any further than their ghetto HOOD thoughts.

Anonymous said...

@3:47 You have the audacity (look it up) to call someone stupid, and you are clearly grammatically challenged? I'm not even talking about the fact that you didn't capitalize at the beginning of your sentences, because I do that sometimes, but please don't talk about anyone being ghetto because your post reeks of a lack of education. 50 cents? Smh...

Anonymous said...

@10:36 you do too.

Anonymous said...

Get on them 50 tell them to think up they own shitttt, don't let them steal your ideas lol

Anonymous said...

I was thinking like 2:49

Yeah, it's copying the marketing of black men who marry white women but stay playing roles that attract a black audience, mainly black women......fake a*s A-holes.
Now either they're auditioning for white hollywood roles and not getting called back or they're purposely auditioning for black hollywood roles because they know that's an easy win for them when it comes to the ladies. Seems to me they would be hustling to get roles that have a white lady on their arms, the chubby guy from THE WIRE and Waiting to Exhale doesn't have a problem getting token roles where his love interest is a white women, and Blair Underwood stays a white women's crush, and that corny Wayans boy seems to be doing well with entry into white hollywood and white love interest roles, so either Terrance and Omari aren't trying because they know USING black hollywood is an easy win or they're being denied entry into the world they love most, IDK.

Yeah 50, Fox did copy that marketing aspect of your Power sh*t.
The part with sell-out a*s black man using the black audience to line his pockets but racing swiftly away from any trace of them when off set. I mean it's their right to make money how they can, but damn it's rude what they're doing

Anonymous said...

Yep for him to post two men side by side and have the idea of comparing them sexually and asking the "ladies" to compare means his bitch assness homo thug having small steroid dick already has. Who in the fuck does that? Two women okay. But this nigga from QUEENS actually posted something about two men asking who was the sexiest and tried to make it work related? Baby Wipes and Yvette are ACTORS they took a job. Half dollar proves he is a homo every time he types. He knows how to pick his fights ie; ja rule, ceirra, not chelsea, etc.

This dude will do anything to taste Floyd's fluids again. Baby Wipes was in Get Rich but niw he:s no good cause he took a job? Only half dollar can work? No wonder this BOY has order of protections out on errbody and has security everywhere he goes. He's reckless and will do anything for attention. But still hasnt uttered or typed a word about his first born male child.

Power is that Show though... ain't nobody going to be watching Empire fiddly!

A manly looking white women at that. I will watch both and if you have on demand it should not be a problem plus I bet these shows will not be coming on at the same time.
Another good show on Stars is Buyer Remorse if I am not wrong with Pam from Martin and Mike Epps. I like Power but I think that Taraji will be a more powerful women role then Natuari who I also liked. 50 Cent just wants for all of us to watch Power because on season two his character is about to show out every more just like in real like a petty back stabber.

Correction

50 Cent just wants for all of us to watch Power because on season 2 his character is about to show out even more just like in real life he is about to show the character of a petty trouble maker back stabber.

Power is a great show! I can't wait for season 2. However, I will also be watching Empire just because of Tariji. I can't say if Empire is copying Power, but it's definitely what I thought when I saw the previews. Overall there is room for both shows although Power will be a lot more gritty since it's on Stars. If you haven't seen Power check it out because the twists and turns of that show are great. 50 is right he put together an awesome team of writers. Power had me on the edge of my seat every week!

Anonymous said...

Power was alright but it did keep me on the edge of my seat I think that Omai and Naturi are the best characters on the show so far but it is good enough to watch i think it starts back in two weeks.

Scandal opened the door for How To Get Away With Murder. It's the same with Power and Taraji's new show. I'm just going to watch all of them while good black shows are still available to watch. This is some divide and conquer crap 50 is on. He's correct about the similar marketing but what the hell share crab 50

Oh please it's just another nigga show to keep you coons occupied from what's really going on in the world.
