Janelle Monáe Announces Free Concert Tour

Janelle Monáe is partnering with Toyota to bring her fans a string of free concerts but there's a catch…

The concerts are invite only and you have to go to Janelle's Wondaland Music website to sign up for an invitation.

The lucky fans who are selected will be treated to a free show by Janelle and her entire Wondaland Music roster including Jidenna, Roman GianArthur and Deep Cotton.

The seven city tour kicks off August 14 in Philadelphia with stops in New York City, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Illinois, Portland, Oregon, San Francisco and Los Angeles, California with the final stop in Atlanta, Georgia.

I just don't get the hype over the music but I like their image.

Music that's not all about suckin', f*ckin', druggin', "ballin'", "blinging"? They need all the hype they can get.

@12:24

Their music is corny to me. Something's missing and it aint profanity.

Her early efforts were her best work thus far. Metropolis and ArchAndroid were brilliant from the lush instrumentation and musicianship to the highly imaginative yet timely lyrics. Electric lady and Yoga are somewhat of a let down trying to appeal to a broader audience. They still put on a show though. Hope I get my invite soon!

This fake stuck-up bitch never comes to Michigan. Fuck her. I used to like her but not anymore. Erykah came to Detroit and I wish I had of seen her. I would have paid to see Erykah before seeing Janelle Fauxnae for free.

@12:44 I agree. I like that they aren't putting out profanity or nudity just to get noticed, BUT maybe they aren't really coming across as genuine or something. Not sure what it is, but they are missing that little something extra that makes everyone automatically love them and what they are doing.

"Not sure what it is, but they are missing that little something extra that makes everyone automatically love them and what they are doing. "

It's called being arrogrant pricks that makes me unlikable.

I made a comment on Janelle Monae's FB page about my opinion regarding her song "Yoga". That song is trash and lately her music has been trash, especially since she been hooking up with Solange, Beyonce and the rest of those fake ass Knowles-Carter freaks. But I did not say that to her. Instead, I wrote a polite criticism about how she should take more risks likes she did when she first came out and how a collaboration with someone like Danger Mouse (Gnarles Barkley) would be genius. That bitch or someone from that gay ass Wonderland crew deleted my comment. How was MY comment deleted when everyone else was blunt and rude with their comments? I must have said something that was told to her ass already.

Plus, she didn't wanna be on a cover of this mag with Teyana Taylor when she was starting out--I mean, yeah, Teyana is a hoodrat with a vampire bat face but she is talented and trying to make it like Janelle. That was rude and stuck up!

Interesting @8:21

FAWK Janelle Monae might be your typical suburban hoodrat with a chip on her shoulder trying to fake being "Earthy" and "Natural" and every other word Afrocentrics tend to describe themselves. I'd like to think she is mostly sincere and not just putting on airs. You never really know with these celebrity types.
