John Singleton Sued Over Daughter's Tuition

Director John Singleton's ex-wife, Ghanaian actress Akosua Busia, is suing him for refusal to pay their daughter's tuition…

According to Bossip Akosua, best known for playing 'Nettie' in The Color Purple, is suing John Singleton for more than a quarter million dollars for their 18 year-old daughter's tuition.

In her legal docs Akosua claims the director promised to pay the difference in their daughter's tuition after she left California and moved home to Ghana.

Akousa, who is the daughter of the ex-prime minister of the Republic of Ghana and a princess of the royal family of Wenchi, claims she has gone into debt and had to sell personal items to keep their daughter in exclusive private boarding schools in Ghana, England and Michigan.

Akousa is seeking $204k for 12 years tuition plus $65k toward continuing education and $30k in legal fees.

In his response John claims he never agreed to pay anything over his $4k a month child support order and that he only makes in $14k a month with $24k a month in expenses.

Fun Fact: John and Akousa married in October 1996 and divorced in June 1997 two months after their daughter was born. John has three other children.
