Beyonce Gets Political at the Super Bowl

Last night Beyonce paid homage to the Black Panther Party and the Black Lives Matter movement during the Super Bowl halftime show...

Eagle eyed fans noticed Beyonce's not so subtle nod to 60s activists group The Black Panther Party by having her back-up dancers dressed like Panther Party leader Huey Newton with afros, black berets and frequently giving the Black Power salute with fists raised during their performance.

Whateva..that chick turns black when it's needed. How, when she talking about getting fucked and going to red lobster. Her retarded stans will eat this up like it's sooooo revolutionary..get outta here. This chick is here to push a movement alright, it's called dumbing you down.

Nice to see she's at a point in her life and career where she is not afraid of the backlash of standing behind the black movement. White people were foaming at the mouth mad. But I'm sure the comments to follow by fellow blacks won't be that much better.

Can't wait for the album.

@7.56

Right, cause it gets no dumber than commenting on a post of someone you don't like. Like Duh Beyoncé knows how to bring the dumb out of the dumb dumbs

Lyrics dont match the visuals... But hey I give her props for doing it. Very few artists of her stature would go that hard at a Superbowl show. It wasnt her idea... I think we should give her directors, costume designers, and choreographers credit. Who are they?? Lmao

Now run along and buy her album and get your tour tickets or this will be a Limited-Edition Pro-Black Beyonce appearance.Lol

@ 7:56- I agree with your opinion on Beyonce's newest video and Super Bowl performance. Sexualizing a powerful political movement is not the best way to put forth a message to the masses. Yet, one can not be mad with Beyonce. If anyone is to be called dumb it is the masses. We should not rely on pop stars and pop culture to teach us our history. And we should surely not expect entertainers to do anything but entertain us. The time of reveolutionary minded artist is far gone and thoses who have been given the keys to the Emerald City are focused on fame and materializism and not the needs and the struggles of the masses. If Beyonce can use her platform to place the slight idea of self determination and placing Black lives first, good for her. But we sre the ones who are stupid to look at her as a modern day Fannie Lou Hammer or many of the other Black women who sacrificed to empower Black people. But I have to comment on the "creole" thing, stop the divisive ideology wihtin the community. The majority of Black folks in this country have "white blood" in their genetic DNA. IT does not make you better than the other. I know folks are going to say it's a "Culture". My family is from Sounthern Louisiana and there are plenty "non-Black folks" in my family gene pool. But at the end of the day, the cops and any one else always see Black. Black people educate yourself and stop depending on others to do so!!!!!

How is this a homage to a movement who tries to stop the police from shooting up people who look like most of her fans?

Hint: It's not.

It's another way for her to get 30 more sec on her 15 minutes of fame. Not only is she obtusely self-centered, but she's pretty disgusting and disrespectful as well.

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

Thanks, Ronald Reagan. It sums up byeonce trying to make a political statement at the "colosseum."

@8:32 please utilize paragraph breaks sometime.

Secondly, nothing she or her husband does is pro-black and never will be. Oh and btw, she was more proud to be a Creole and a Texan than an average negro in her music video.
Which makes this "move" even more disgusting.

Just cut Pepsi a check, Beyhosay!

Her Marketing Team is on point. They had a plan in advance. No offense to Rhianna & Kanye but they need to take notes on how a well planned, professional strategy is done....While Rhi just shot her video on Fri releasing teasers on Sat & Kanye still playing with the 'name' of his album...Beyoncé released a full planned marketing strategy for her next project. Kudos to them

The greatest thing about bey's PR/marketing team is that they convince people all the time that it's a different banana in the tailpipe.

@8:53. LOL...That's their job & if they pull it off...it's called Winning....Doritos still taste the same & so does Budweiser but they keep re-packaging the product.

Her performance last night was tired and boring. There is no strategy or relation to #BLM. Nobody was talking about her off leotard wearing self so now her Monday morning PR campaign blitz is to reference the #BLM movement.

I don't think Vegas is a bad idea; Perhaps she could chill with the hard dancing (she's in her early 40's now and it's clear she's struggling with it) and could have an elaborate stage show where she doesn't have to travel and can put down roots for her children. It's not a bad idea, and these so-called tours are not selling tickets like they use to.

Someone on another thread made a point about "If you don't like her, don't go" but the bigger issue is that with the middle class shrinking and public assistance programs about to go away for the poor, soon no one will be able to afford to see her. She better strike while the iron is hot and just go to Vegas while she still can.

Oh, and will her production company have to eat the cost of unpurchased tickets, or will they be shipped to radio stations as a form of payola (ever wonder where radio stations get giveaway tickets?)

Saw thiOn the surface this video and song are the typical delusional, self-serving, idolatrous garbage you can expect from this woman. Check a little deeper and you'll see this is cognitive dissonance at it's best.

I read the lyrics - I refuse to listen to the song or watch the video. I also looked at the stills from the Superbowl performance. It was very offensive to me. The references to Black Panthers, civil rights, etc. juxtaposed against the visual of booty shorts, fishnet stockings and her big blond weave and the aural assault of her ghetto soul-sucking lyrics creates a pathetic menagerie of confusion. This is a psy-op meant to dilute any legitimate discourse on race relations in this country.

It's sensory overload. Pretend to represent something of historical significance and meaning and then present it in a booty-popping, empty-headed package. The further dumbing down of the useless masses via queen bey. This is her true purpose. She and Jay-Z exist to keep black folks dumbed ALL the way down. Plus it's a way for her to jump on yet another bandwagon to try to stay relevant. Her masters are getting tired of her, she's aging, so she has to do BIG dumb things to show them she's still on board with the program and can deliver.

I'm never suprised by what she does. I would be suprised if she put on some clothes and simply sang without a gimmick. I am deeply saddened that people jump on social media to employ idiotic phrases like "slayage" to describe anything she force feeds on the public. I'm talking about intelligent, educated professional people who seem obligated to pay her homage because she's "bey". It's an indication that her witchery is working at some level. But the devil is a liar!!s comment and deem it worth posting.

I only like some of the music Beyonce puts out but I think people are missing the point. Beyonce has been grinding and building up her paper and power for what the last 15 years...? I think everything she's done since going solo has been calculated to get to a point financially and career-wise where she can put out whatever type of music and visuals she wants and give 0 fucks about what critics or fans think about it.

Beyonce owes Columbia Records one more record then she is free to do whatever she really really wants---no interference, no deadlines, no tug-o-war over content or marketing --- not many music artists have that real freedom they're owned/controlled by the record companis their entire career. The only other artists I know of with this type of freedom is Prince and Sting. I'm sure there are few others but it's not that common for artists in Beyonce's age range to be 100% in control and not owe anyone shit. A lot of her songs and videos suck but I give her much kudos for achieving this.

this performance had NOTHING to do with being political. THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A POLITICAL STATEMENT!!!!!!

Learn HISTORY!!! and some of you will understand what bey did was disrespectfully and rude.

My comment about the economy and Beyonce doing well in Vegas got deleted...Why can't we just tell the truth?

The economy is collapsing and there's no money for "concerts" with the middle class shrinking and benefits about to be cut for the poor...She should just go to Vegas while she still can.

so when bey got rid of all her management she got rid of all her dancers too...these are different women and there are no longer the white dancers. bey might slightly do care about black lives matter/police killings she has meet trayvon's mother. even her self absorbded self would feel some kind of way about his death. but lets not pretend bey is not also looking as a way to benefit herself. being socially conscious is in and she goes where the wind blows. when latinos were popular she said she wished she was "latina" and with her new "black power" stance she still makes sure to remind us she's creole (even though it's not a race) that she's mixed etc. so she all over the map. i really don't know what to think about this era other than she's just trying to keep the dollas rolling in.

It doesn't take potent witch craft to hypnotize the public anymore. Just some catch words like "Slay" & "Swag" and the crowd jumps around like hyenas in heat.

Sigh...
