I'm shocked. Yall if you watched the trailer T.I. got a part in it. Also Forest Witiker and Lawrence Fishburn is in it to. It looks very good but I won't be watching it because I've seen the original one time and one time is another. I've ready so many slavery stories and seen more than enough slavery movies I'm done. It does look good with the graphics but the story we all are aware of.

I'm sick of slave movies as well. Where's movies on the non-enslaved Black Abolitionists? [Fun Fact: the Black Abolitionists formed most of the original GOP (Republican Party)]

@2:19 One movie that I do want to see is Nat Turner that's what we need more of movies where they show the slaves rising up against the white folks instead of the same old same old subservient sh*t. Not all slaves were docile and you had slaves killing white folks those are the stories that need to be told.

The ratings will be good since white people will be watching it and they love seeing them selves in the dominant position they don't like seeing anything less than that. And like I said in the Beyoncé posts (sorry in advance to those that don't like when we bring her name up) it's not good for white people to be comfortable. When they are uncomfortable that's when you're hitting a nerve because they don't like the truth and they don't like black people in dominant positions knocking them out!

I will not watch this foolishness and here's why:

1) I'm convinced that the surge in these "slave" movies since 2010 is some passive agressive dig and at our president and the rise of other prominent blacks in our country. They glorify the enslavement and powerlessness of blacks. I can not recall so many slave era movies being released in Clinton or Bush's administration!! And the reason they win awards is because it's like a little bone the whites throw at us with two differing rationales: first, political correctness and the pity that we had to endure slavery. It alleviates some of their white guilt. Second, that lowkey glee they get when seeing blacks insubordinated. It is a painful cycle as well. Producers and directors see that in order for a black movie to gain "mainstream recognition and validation," it has to deal with slavery!! So that's what they keep producing!!! Enough already!!!!!!!

2) This movie looks like garbage and looks and feels nothing like the original Roots. The hypersexualization of black women (the scantily clad provacative dancing which was NOT in Roots) was the first thing that came to mind. While it is an ensemble cast, I can't take TI in a slave movie seriously. I've watched Roots many times in my life and love the movie (except the fact that Ben Vereen played a mixed man). To me, it is a timeless gem that could've been left alone. It did not need retelling.

This is most likely not made for blacks, it's made for white folk. If black people make themselves watch it will only make them mor angry. If white people watch they will still be walking around saying they don't understand why black people are angry because at least times aren't exactly like they were in the movie anymore.

Besides, is this movie REALLY necessary? Right now with how high racial tensions are more than when the otiginal movie came out and caused riots and such back then? Are people TRYING to incite a huge race war or what? Why not have hollywood switch gears and come out with a whole slew of movies where blacks and whites come together and finally understand each other somehow? They know how much their movies and such affect the country and world that watches them.

I always wonder when people talk about ancient scientists and mathematicians...no shoes...no forks...no toilet paper...but beakers and calculus?

Imma shut my self up though. Carry on.

lol @10:08 so true. Granted the ancients didn't have the physical/psychological distractions that we have, but let's stop pretending they were so enlightened when their average lifespan was 40, had terrible diseases and bathed once every three months.

Lol the powers that be are determined to start a race war by any means necessary. I'm good on another slave movie.

UNTIL the lion LEARNS to WRITE, EVERY story will GLORIFY the hunter. Remember that!

they want to continue making slave films but still want to sugarcoat it in history classes. never want to make movies about blacks in power or slaves revolting.

white people ain't slick

Why are we remaking this story that has already been told? Why not move on to something else?

@ 1:14 the only people that were nasty like that back then was white people. Black people were clean and believed in using natural herbs for medication and a whole host of things. Our life spans were long compared to what they are now. We weren't running around with diabetes and hypertension. We ate a lean diet also. Soul food is not a diet we had before black american slavery. The whites would only feed us the scraps and leftovers. That's why people eat pigs feet, skin and ears until this day.
