Kevin Hart Addresses Oscars Diversity Issue

Kevin Hart addresses the Oscars diversity issue while introducing The Weeknd...

Before introducing Academy Award nominated singer The Weeknd comedian Kevin Hart got serious for a moment telling the crowd,
"I just want to take a second to get something off my chest. First and foremost, I'm a positive guy I feed off of positive energy, I feel like positive overall beats negative."
“With that being said, I want to applaud all of the actors and actresses of color that didn't get nominated tonight. The reason why I say that is because I want them to understand that tonight should not determine the hard work and effort that you put into your craft.”
"At the end of the day we love what we do, we're breaking major ground doing it. These problems of today will eventually become problems of the old. Let's not let this negative issue of diversity beat us, let's continue to do what we do best. With that being said, congratulations on an amazing year."

Never let them turn you into a token.

That was actually a nice speech. Why black people care about the Oscars so much is beyond me.

Kevin is so full of himself. He really thinks he's funny and will remain relevant. Time will show him thats not the case.

It shouldn't need to be said that these nor any awards should validate the accomplishments of black actors or any actors for that matter.

All of this because Jada Pinkett's non-acting ass got butthurt over Willard not getting a nomination.

Because many Black people are obsessed with what white people think of them. Malcolm X and Booker T. Washington would be turning in their graves.

Jada's spearheaded had nothing to do it Will not being nominated. It was clearly about the lack of diversity. She never once imply that she mad, sad, angry or anything else because Will wasn't nominated. She spoke some real talk about the lack of diversity and people are misinterpreting it as her being upset or hating because of Will. She was brave enough to say what we were thinking and she owned it. [

"why other people care so much about something that I deem unimportant is beyond me". That statement is beyond ignorant.

The Oscar's are not about "what white people think", it's more so about being acknowledged and appreciated for your contribution to the art.

That was a nice speech. who doesn't want words of encoragement when they are feeling unappreciated.

I too wonder why the Oscar is so coveted - is acceptance amongst ourselves not good enough?

@12:11

There was no one worthy to be nominated this year. And Black Oscar winners dont capitalize off the win anyways. How did winning an Oscar help Halle? Jamie? Lupita? Octavia? Jennifer? I could go on. The award is meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

It's not about diversity people it's about money. Saying you won and Oscar gives you the right to demand top dollar in your next project. It's a resume' builder. If you are Oscar nominated or actually have an Oscar when you start going out for certain roles (be it writing, directing, etc etc. You have a right do ask for more and RECEIVE more money. So if you keep certain people from having the 'oh so special white man's trophy' you keep certain people from demanding top dollar. Please believe those who are people of color are indeed making more money to appear in roles than previously. It's about the money...always have been.

The only thing ground breaking about last night was the number of black folks on stage at the Oscars.

insert blank face for the hobbit who is so positive that soon as he got money he left his positively black wife for a hybrid woman whose at least 3 feet taller than him. Yeah that's a positive influence for his two kids. Positively bull crap!

Cosign.....
Besides...When was the last time Will and Jada were to support NAACP Image Awards,Soul Train Music Awards,BET Awards,hell...even the Source Awards?
At the risk of sounding angry and a hater, which I'm not...Fuck them.
If she's SO pressed about it,rather than boycotting...they should build their own platform. They have the name, status,$$$ and the connects...If Robert Redford can build Sundance and Robert DeNiro with Tribeca Film Fest to what they are now...Who the hell are Will and Jada?
again..........
Fuck them.....attention whores...
