LA Reid Responsible for Infamous Whitney Houston Interview

Back in 2002 Whitney Houston sat down with Diane Sawyer to deny claims she was using crack cocaine infamously telling Diane, '"Crack is cheap. I make too much money to ever smoke crack. Let's get that straight. Okay? We don't do crack. Crack is whack."'

Turns out LA Reid was a one who set up the interview...

In his new memoir 'Sing to Me' LA Reid reveals he went to great lengths to set up the Whitney Houston / Diane Sawyer interview to help dispel the drug rumors surrounding Whitney at the time, but admits he had no idea she actually was addicted to drugs.

LA says he realized 'in an instant' how bad off she really was the moment the broadcast aired.

Unless he got a cut I don't see why he would encourage her to do an interview knowing she was a bonafied coke head... there was more sweat in that interview than at a Mayweather title bout...

LA is a liar.

The end

12:56 is correct; So he set up the interview but didn't work with her publicists to make sure the label had final cut approval? They didn't make sure there was B-Roll to augment anything they wanted excised from the interview?

Whitney is not the only celebrity to show up high/drunk for interviews, that's why the interviews seem so choppy because they piece together lucid moments and augment with performance footage. He set Whitney up to fail because the label was done with her and needed public proof so they could drop her. He's a snake.

I just wish Pebbles & LA would have made it their business to try and help Whitney into sobriety. Pebbles had to know how bad it was getting. Whit was lonely, without a lover, weary of the business, and of being the cash cow. She needed someone to love her in order for her to love herself again. I believe that true friends don't just let you fall by the wayside and perish.

3:06 The thing I learned about addicts from personal experience is no one can help them until they are ready to seek help. Whitney was a strong, intelligent woman who had unlimited resources to find help but she wasn't ready for it. LA and Pebbles are shady people but I can't blame them for Whitney's choices.
However let's not be fooled here, LA knew darn well Whitney was doing drugs. Everyone behind the scenes knew it.

He needs to just stay behind the scenes and never talk directly to the media ever again. There are now two movies showing that he and his ex Pebbles had some link to LaFace artists going broke. And why didn't he try to find out for himself whether or not Whitney was okay.

This book, from what I've seen is just dishing dirt on Whitney, MJ and Prince. Since two of three met an early demise not that long ago, why bother?

Well, he "set her up" alright.

'Crack is cheap. I make too much money to ever smoke crack.'

The whole interview was hilarious, but those lines alone still have me cracking up all these years later LOL

I never liked L A Reid. During his The Deele days, he seemed so arrogant and jerkish. I guess he never changed. He and Peebles deserved each other.

You know what? LA Reid and Pebbles should have stayed married to each other. LA Reid just released a memoir talking about how shrewd Michael Jackson was and that he didn't care anything about his family. In my opinion, it is very tacky to talk about the dead if they are not here to respond or,defend themselves. LA Reid, Sit your fucked up Toni Braxton, music deal giving ass down! You and your bottom bitch Pebbles can both increase the numerator and multiply to her lowest common denominator and kick rocks! Neither one of y'all ain't shit.
