Melissa Harris-Perry Got the Boot Over Beyoncé?

Over the weekend news anchor Melissa Harris-Perry severed ties with MSNBC after a messy public dispute over presidential election coverage [click here if you missed that].

Was Beyoncé's Formation video the real reason for their disagreement...?

Insiders tell CNN after Beyoncé dropped her racially charged video the night before the Super Bowl Melissa Harris-Perry asked for time to cover the controversy on her show the next day.

Apparently, after being told there was only enough time for presidential election coverage, Melissa Harris-Perry stood her ground and did a segment on Beyoncé's Formation video anyway and hasn't been back on MSNBC since.

Maybe Beyonce should hire her as her publicist?

She stay in Beyonce's ass... the obsession is rather creepy for a grown woman to carry on so.

Ms. MHP has a child who should adore Beyonce more than she does, but like the rest of social media, she always finds a way to tie ANY SOCIAL OR POLITICAL ISSUE back to Beyonce' and friends.

Mike Brown got shot he was unarmed and listening to Beyonce. Hillary Clinton will be our first feminist president because she used Beyonce lyrics in her speech blah blah blah. We should all be vegan becasuse Beyonce makes it look sexy Beyonce has on glasses like me and that makes me and all members of #nerdland an official part of the Bee Hive.

Seriously, she can't have one show without the girl.

Bitter much?

So this bitch lost her job over BEYONCE??? LMAO I wish I would.........

Lol @ 12:57! I heard she did an entire show on Formation but hopefully that was an exaggeration. I think Melissa has great intentions and seemingly a big heart. Her ideas don't usually resonate with me but I hope she rebounds from this ordeal bigger and better for it.

Lol...I heard it was Beyonce who told Chris Rock to do the Stacy Dash skit too. That bitch Beyonce is pure illuminati bred evil :)

I would have put Beyonce on the back burner with the quickness. Don't mess up where your bread is buttered at. Damn a formation.

Y'all don't believe the hype. No one watches this woman's show on MSNBC. Most of y'all couldn't tell what channel MSNBC was on.
The his woman was a token who put on the air in the name of diversity. She thought she was important to them but she wasn't.

i wish I could go to work and tell my boss what I plan on doing instead of what I was told to do. Lol, it's obvious she never listened to the lyrics, which never mentions anything about BLM, but is diss to all haters a 'love' lol of her 'new' nose, fame and fortune. And in true Beyoncé style, the BLM is keep in the background for added interest. So the jokes on Mellisa.

@2:05pm you are absolutely right, this is a reach. Her shows were being re-directed before the Super Bowl and had nothing to do with Beyonce - however, Beyonce seems a convenient scapegoat for all things racist and controversial these days.

I watched her show when I could Melissa Harris Perry was boycotting her own show before they let her go because they wanted her to give up editorial control which speaks volume that she was willing to stand her ground and not get paid for what is politically injustice because she would no longer have the power to control her show.

Without that power the network can regulate and censor what is aired out to media and with her name attached to the network they could say anything as if was coming from her and especially if is pertaining to the Black culture and our voices would not be heard and the news would not be reported correctly.

So if she wanted to speak on the Beyoncé formation she should have been able to report it there was enough media coverage on the election and I am sure if she had been allowed to she could have covered both and further more Rachael Maddow shows I am sure she has not given up editorial control.

Come on people really Beyoncé does not have that much pull to dictate what Chris Rock did or did not do during the Oscars presentation as the host. Plus I am sure the network forcing Melissa Perry to resign had nothing to do with the Beyoncé formation come on really people you see something on social media embellished it and run with the shit.

@3:16 Hello. That was a failed attempt at sarcasm on my part, my apologies. I'm team Beyonce, team Melissa Harris-Perry, I'm rooting for my Sisters. Always. I wish Melissa well, and I understand her frustrations. To blame this fiasco on Beyonce, I just..lol. I hope Melissa finds a home at tvone or somewhere like that. I also hope Beyonce continues to anger the masses...And the Massas. I live for White tears :)

At the end of the day her employer gave her an instruction she chose not to abide by it her employer chose to terminate her employment what is the story - this chit happens every day - if you don't own it you can't say chit if the people who do own it want to control every aspect of it - is it right - no but its life, life ain't fair - dummy should have kept her job and her ability to speak out now she just another unemployed black girl... and Beyoncé in St Barts on a yacht sipping cocktails spending that Tidal money - dummy....

nah, beyonce is doing another twerking video and calling it a female empowerment song, iwith her over hyped, lame self while Mellisa is on Indeed.com updating her resume. SMH

So you'll are going to condemn the woman for actually taking a stance on something as important as her career. All of the "she should've stayed quiet and kept her show"-ass fools need to see the significance of her actions. And respect that someone's not willing to just "yessuh bawse sir" anything that's told to them. If you feel like you someone shouldn't speak out when there's something wrong with their employment situation, then you're dumb. and your silence will keep you in some job that you arent happy with.

Creative license is MONUMENTAL when trying to build your career. They gave her creative license at the start of the show and slowly began taking it away for the election. I'd be pissed too if I wanted to discuss something on MY show, and you told me to talk about Trump for an hour.

And I feel like her taking a stance on a national network should inspire others to not be railroaded and creatively crushed by their superiors

Peep dis up in here mad loud, They betta not be tryna scapegoat Bey cause it ain't goin down.

Another twerking and using 'music' as a weapon to remind
she is
yellowbone (was just listening to a speech by Khalid Muhammed where he talks about WP and White Supremists who use color as a weapon...shakes head)
Rich (supposedly, they sure don't look it or act it)
whatever else

Sat this fool down already. And if Melissa's losing her show had anything to do with Benonsense she is a FOOL and got what she deserved caping for a product who is actually doing more harm to black people than most white people ever could...she has infected their minds with nonsense, encouraged anti-educaiaont, idolatry, yuck!

I read MSNBC gave her permission then still let her go.

MPH is no dummy or "just another unemployed Black girl" She is a college professor. She was rightly upset that the station kept pre·empting her show for election coverage. And they wouldn't even offer her the chance to do some of the election coverage.

@4:38 PM

I couldn't agree with you more! Sometimes, we have to stand up, because if we don't stand for something, we will fall for anything.

She didn't lose her job over Beyonce she left her job because she was going to play the role of a mammy or slave on her show, to please the masses.

College professor or not if she chose to quit her job because she didn't like the "rules" so to speak she doesn't get to whine about HER choice - she made a choice it didn't work out as she planned now we supposed to rally to her side just cause she black - I am not a minion and do not blindly follow others just cause we share skin tone.
