Israel Houghton Denies Firing Rumors

Earlier this week unnamed Lakewood Church insiders confirmed to Radar Online that embattled gospel singer Israel Houghton had been asked to step down amid the growing cheating surrounding Houghton and talk show host Adrienne Bailon [click here if you missed that].

Houghton says it's not true...

Israel Houghton directed his Twitter followers to a news report from KHOU stating he was not fired from Lakewood and instead was taking a self-imposed sabbatical.

The official church statement reads,
“We can confirm that Israel is on indefinite leave, but it is important to clarify that we still consider Israel to be a part of the Lakewood family and that his employment has not been terminated.”

Why is this even a story! Damn! I never even heard of this guy before this!? This makes Adrian look like such a homes revoking slut even though she may not be at all. She needs to get ahead of this and just release a statement. WTF! I'm sick of seeing this dude on on my gossip sites. He doesn't even look like anything. His facial features are weird. Like he has a blank face.

@7:20 - Naw, they both need to stfu and stay off social media which is what got him in trouble in the first place. If you're taking a "sabbatical" from ministry, shouldn't your focus be on strengthening your relationship with God? This dude is focused on Adrienne and running his mouth which are among the marking of a fool per The Good Book.

It's almost as if he just couldn't wait and let the divorce settle in for a sec (1 moth isn't enough for a public figure). Plus, they just looked weird together.

it does look as though he have a blank face

Mr. Houghton is human. If he saw fit to get a divorce due to their unhappiness or otherwise, it's their perogative. His ex wife isn't speaking out, therefore he has the right to move on and date whomever he likes. He should not be so harshly judged, and at least he's been honest about his feelings and his flaws and is taking a leave to figure out his future. So glad that his church is sticking by him for what matters. He seems to be a wonderful and hardworking soul for Christ. We must remember that he's not out to hurt anyone in the process, he's just telling the world that he's not perfect while he seeks repentance and forgiveness, along with trying to find happiness and peace in a new relationship with Adrienne.

^^^Israel, do you. But remember you're a role model spending time with a known heaux. You can't have one foot in and one foot out. You're either in the world or in Ministry.
