A Fourth Man Come Forward with Molestation Claims Against Afrika Bambaataa

Earlier this month three men came forward claiming they had been sexually molested by Hip Hop pioneer Afrika Bambaata while they were teens [click here if you missed that].

Another man has come forward...

39 year-old Hassan Campbell tells The NY Daily News
"He had the most fun house in the world. There were celebrities there, musicians, neighborhood heroes. It was the best place to be - and the worst place to be."
"He is a pervert. He likes little boys."
Campbell claims Bambaataa enticed him by giving him food, money and a place to stay when he ran away from home.

Now wait a minute now wait a minute this is starting to look like the Bill Cosby situation, what i would like to know is why the hell these so called victims are just now saying something?, what's the difference between now and then when it was going on? Something's not right about this, i like wow why didn't you say something sooner? This isn't adding up it's looking more and more like the bill cosby situation all of a sudden everybody just fall out the wood work telling they've been sexually molested,something's not right about this

This is different. This ain't Bill Cosby. These men have nothing to gain but closure from this. In Bill's case, there's money, notoriety, and opportunities to shut him down. This? These men are getting their strength from the first man who came out. This isn't alleged. He's a pedophile and he needs to be stopped.

@10:05am These victims were little boys at the time and now are grown man. Once the first guy got enough courage to talk about the others probably feel safe to step up. Also goes to the validation of the first mans story. unlike with Bill Cosby which a motive is involved. What's their motive, other than finally getting this off their chest and facing it head on. I commend them, it couldn't be an easy task.

Unlike Bill Cosby, Bambaataa has no money and his victims were male children. There's a double standard when it comes to male victims. It seems as if these men are finally speaking their truth..after years of pain and internal struggles. I believe them. They have nothing to gain, but peace of mind and the long-overdue exposure of a child predator.

Sadly, I'm just going to be quiet and wait for even more victims to come forward. This is only the beginning; I think the gloves are off and the truth is coming out about some of these dudes in hip-hop/the music industry.

10:45am continued..

I'm a female Bronx native and Afrika Bambaataa lives near my family. There are many high schools in the neighborhood (Truman, Evander Childs (former name), Spellman, Mount St. Michael). This story breaks my heart, because I was one of those kids who looked up to him. Whenever I crossed paths with this man, I showed respect for his contribution to hip hop culture. My culture. I can't imagine what it must've been like for these boys who viewed him as a role model, a father figure, a big brother, a mentor.

If he is innocent, he needs to speak directly to the people. Not through his attorneys. His silence and his statements, at the advice of his attorneys, are insulting. I'm disappointed in the Zulu Nation as well.

He looks like a freak. Look at him. Something ain't right.

Redvelvet - Thanks for sharing those comments. I think this is a conversation we need to have as a community. Is this Mott Haven we're talking about. And as the first alleged victim said, he cut school went to hang out with AB. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but perhaps he was grooming people and perhaps there are scores more victims. I'm always wary of people who's homes are the neighborhood hang out spot.

^^^^^YUP! Some people are cool, but "free" soda, chips, and cable TV aren't really free. We need to be mindful of the people around our kids and remember that parents are also groomed into believing their kids are in "good hands." All it takes is once to be victimized, and you can't unring that bell when it happens. Peace, blessings and safety to you and your's.

Again,the Euro centric view of what's right and wrong has corrupted our youth. These are FAILED black men who didn't become successful in their lives and is now trying to bring down one if the true Asiatic black men.

Classic pedo behavior. There is never just one or even a few victims, but a TRAIL.

@11:38

Nice try Bambataa, most people don't even know who the fuck you are, so how is it bringing you down?

And no this is not Bill Cosby because Bill is a DATE RAPIST, not a pedophile.

@10:05 - these we're children at the time and more than likely felt confused, hurt, betrayed, and didn't think anyone would believe them. Also, he groomed them by giving them things they needed like food, clothing and shelter.

That is very different from grown women (who should have had more common sense and known better) sleeping with Cosby for a come up...

I love how people in here are trying to cape for Bill Cosby like he isnt a disgrace to anyone with a brain lol only simpleton black folks still have any type of respect for him.

I'd be first to tell anyone just how much I hate pedophiles and how much I don't think they could ever be rehabilitated. Yet, I know hurt people...hurt people and I am willing to bet money that Bam was molested, too. And even though I'm feeling this way, I still feel what allegedly happened to these young black men, wasn't right. I am one of the old school Hip Hop Heads who respected Bam and the organization. Now, I feel so disappointed and a bit embarrassed about this. If there is a price that has to be paid, then I hope the people who are co-conspirators in this, those who knew about this and chose to look the other way, and those who protected Bam will also, be held responsible. I wish these men a freeing & justifying healing and recovery.

@10:54am

You do know that "Damion 'World' Hardy is a crazed Muslim conspiracy theorist now convicted murderer, right? Because of his schizophrenia, the courts forcibly medicated him over a 10- yr period so he could stand trial for killing 6 people.

But, Afrikka' looks suspect and seems to be rather a narcissist in response to these recent allegations. I think the industry has known about his big fat gay ass for a long time.

I see these men seem to be hurt as this man violated them during their coming of age years and we as blacks will keep silent about abuse.

Glad they're finding solace.

@2:13am, If Damion was that "crazy" and wasnt speaking "some truth", The government would not be so concerned
So u sound like the blacks who will silent about abuse too

@10:05 victims are coming forward because there is a huge campaign to stop rape culture going on now. Support for victims of rape of both sexs is at an all time high. The definition of rape is being discussed more openly and the defintion is changing from a stranger who violently sexually attacks a woman to include forced or drugged sex by friends relatives even significant others on a male or female. I have a feeling that all these men knew each other at least in passing. To sit back and say nothing and watch someone that you know was victimized as well as yourself get bashed by the public has to be unacceptable. I'm glad that these men are speaking the truth. I believe it's the truth because none of the men so far seem to be attention seeking jerks. Some of the most taboo subjects in black culture is male on male sexual abuse and incest. These men coming forward have nothing but my sympathy.

10:05 I'm sure many of these men thought that they were the only ones getting abused. Predators are very good at making the victim feel ashamed and responsible for the abuse forced on them. They often feel that it was their fault for causing the pervert to act the way that they did. Hearing that you weren't alone and that the abusers actions were a product of his own depraved mind can be very motivating and healing.
