Beyoncé Takes a Stand for LGBT Rights

Last month North Carolina passed a law that citizens can only use the public restroom for the gender listed on their birth certificate [click here if you missed that].

This week, after performing in Raleigh, NC, Beyoncé spoke out against the new law on her website...

North Carolina has been drawing the attention of the masses for new legislation that blocks cities and local governments from passing anti-discrimination measures that could protect gay and transgender people.
It all began earlier this year when Charlotte passed a decree expanding North Carolina’s anti-discrimination laws allowing LGBT people protection in places of public accommodation. The ordinance, which was set to go into effect on April 1st, would allow transgender people to use the bathrooms of the gender they identify as, amongst other progressive rights.
Rather than accepting the progression in LGBT rights, that same night, legislators returned to the state house to overrule the ordinance that would ban discrimination against LGBT people. At a special session, North Carolina’s General Assembly proposed and passed the House Bill 2 (HB2) — what has now come to be known as the “Bathroom Bill.”
As The Formation World Tour makes its stop in the Tar Heel state in the midst of such a controversial time, we think it is important for us to bring attention to those who are committed to being good and carrying on the message of equality in this core of controversy.
Among the many organizations doing the good work to get this bill overturned, there is Equality NC, a local organization dedicated to securing equal rights and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) North Carolinians.
To accomplish these goals, Equality NC tirelessly lobbies the North Carolina General Assembly, executive branch, and local governments, broadcast LGBT news, stories and content, and mobilize our communities on issues that matter, including marriage equality, parental rights, inclusive anti-bullying policies, employment discrimination, hate violence, privacy rights, sexuality education, adoption, domestic partnerships, and HIV/AIDS.
Learn more about how you can support Equality NC by donating, volunteering, becoming an ambassador, attending an event, or simply spreading the word!

So Bey would be okay with Blue using the same restroom ALONE as some creepy guy? I think not.

Bathrooms have stalls - what's the big deal, besides power. Stupid People will just boycott using public bathrooms and then the problems(private trysts) become that of businesses - wow that won't go over big.

I dont see anything wrong with transgenders using the bathrooom that they feel is appropriate for what they identify as sexually. My sister is an openly gay woman that prefers to appear as a man by clothing, hair, etc but she hasn't used a public restroom in years because she refuses to use the men's room. Although she appears to look like a man, she does not appreciate being called one. The women in the ladies room always make a big stink when she uses it, so she gave up.

I say nay to this law, and stand with NC on this one.

If it's that serious, make a fourth public restroom. Men, women, family, and transgender.

Nah, not with my kid. Use the bathroom that your genitals identify with. You can always change your mind.

@8:45
Look at what you wrote. You sister tries to'appear as a man by clothing, hair, etc.' At the end of the day she is STILL A WOMAN. I don't have a problem with transgenders BUT enough is enough.

The problem is the wrong people will be taking advantage of this and watching, stalking, women and children what about their safety just build bathrooms

I agree that transgender people should use restrooms based on the gender they were born. Allowing transgender people to use public restrooms based on gender change, just opens up a new can of worms and allows perverts and pedophiles to take full advantage of the situation. So sick of these celebrities who want to jump on the band wagon and be so politically correct when it comes to lining their pockets.

As far as Beyonce, somebody please make this bytch go away for about ten years. She is beyond annoying.

I actually was mean mugged by a trans many years ago in a bathroom. He would have beat my ass just for existing if my peeps weren't outside and he knew it.. he was WWAAAYYY STRONGER THEN ME.. YALLL KEEP PLAYING WITH PEOPLE SAFETY. BATHROOMS DO NOT HAVE SECURITY GUARDS AND TRANSGENDERS ATTACK WOMEN VERBALLY, SO YOU KNOW THEY WILL DO IT WHEN NOBODY IS LOOKING.. THEY WILL FUCK YOU ALL THE WAY UP IF THEY WANT.. THEY ARE STRONGER THAN YOU AND A LOT OF THEM ARE MENTALLY ILLLLL .. BUT YALL DON'T HEAR ME THO!!!!

She took a stand after the cheack cleared. At least other groups and entertainers boycotted the state. Would she let blues share a shower with a man who believes he is a little girl in the wrong body? Don't laugh these problems are real. Most pedophiles don't recognize their real age or gender. They are stunted. And they don't care as long as they get their jollies. Check woody Allen a soon-yi out.

@912 you totally missed my point. My point is that their is definitely and issue within the LGBT community and noone should have to go through that much stress just to be able to relieve themselves. I do agree with 913am I believe that they should amend the law somehow to prevent wrongdoings.

I'm so sick of her yodeling fraud ass. She doesn't stand for ANY of these issues. They're just topics to keep that sour ass drink album of hers relevant.

The issue here is not that they shouldn't be allowed to use the bathroom that they identify with their gender, the issue is that it gives pedophiles and perverts the right to go into a restroom because they can say at the time they identify with the opposite sex. As a parent I now do not feel comfortable sending my child into the restroom while I stand by the door and wait. If they want to use the bathroom of their choice, public places need to install universal restrooms along with men and women restrooms, the way they have family restrooms at amusement parks and other places.

Don't believe this bitch.
She said AFTER she made her money from the show in Tarheel state.

Springsteen boycotted the state a couple weeks ago because of the law.

Bey and her fake moral outrage.
Bitch please

Thank @10:22! No one questioned transgenders going into the bathroom but the LAW now gives a loophole to sexual predators. If she's supposed to be this grand fucking feminist, why can't she see how sexist and mysoginistic the trans movement is. Why are they receiving EXTRA rights while biological women are expected to be gender neutral so they can "feel" more like women. Get the fuck out of here! She just found her blackness, she need to stick with that shit ESPECIALLY since her and BLU will never have to use a bathroom without private security watching over them.

It's going to take a black man - dressed as a man - walking into a bathroom full of white women for these idiots to understand that we need "protecting".

In a group of 100 people how many are trans? likely lesss than 10% of them. To force people to change the way they have been in such a small amount of time for such a small group of people is ridiculous. Men using cameras to film women in restrooms has been something we've battled for years. Allowing men to put on a wig and use a womens restroom is a recipe for disaster.

Liberals have finally ruined this country. A bunch of sensitive ass Americans faking like they give a shit when they just want shit to complain about.

Is Beyonce the anti~Christ? I'm starting to see something with her. Hmmmm????

What an irrelevant law. Of course Bey speaks on it now or in other words, "go buy mah albem".

Anonymous said...

Unless Transgenders wanna take the risk of getting their asses beat, they need their own restroom to make them feel special but transgenders like hiding who they really are so it's a win win for them to be able to walk into the wrong bathroom with their fuckery. Pedophiles will be screaming for their rights rights next SMH. I can't wait until America is destroyed. Egypt, Rome and Sodom and Gomorrah all over again in this bitch

But she performed though right? What a tired ass hoe Beyonce is. I don't even have to read past the first sentence to know she didn't write that.

She's still in line with the agenda. She does not care about you. If you keep investing in her instead of yourself you will be lost for good.

ANY MAN OR WOMAN CAN DRESS UP AND NOT BE GAY AND JUST BE A FUCKING PEDOFILE!

TRICK PLEASE, she shouldn't have preformed. THRISTY COW!

Bruce Springsteen's fans were highly pissed that he opted not to perform and I don't blame them. I wish the fuck I would pay for a ticket, outfit, hotel fees etc... and the celebrity I paid to see cancelled because of some bullshit (like this).

The fuck? Bitch I'm in disagreement with you and agree with the bill and I don't give a damn that you agreed with it. If I paid to see your ass perform as an entertainer, getcho ass out there and entertain. The bill will still be there whether you perform or not!!

She I mean her publicist is right.
