Pastor Jamal Bryant Fires Back

Last week community activists PFK Boom and Shy Lady Heroin ran Pastor Jamal Bryant off the block in Baltimore after he showed up to a weekly police brutality protest rally, three years after being invited, and not until his latest out of wedlock baby scandal hit the news [click here if you missed that].

Pastor Bryant responds to the slight...

WTF does that meme mean? To have power you have to sell liquor?! Really?

Anonymous said...

It means that a lot of people like to say we run this hood, or this is my block, but don't own any property, businesses,or homes in "their hood."

Anonymous said...

^^^absolutely correct. The meme probably went over alot of people's heads. SMH. This is my hood but you paying the white man for your house and the Arabs for your liquor and the Chinese man for your food. And none of them live in your hood. Buthe you run this shit. Lol

7:23 Pastor Jamale is saying black people allow Asians. Indians and Arabs to open up a business in the black community and you shop there but these same people will never shop in our community. You buy fried chicken from Arabs and Indian which is terrible. I would rather not eat fried chicken if I have to buy it from an Arab or Asian and Indian. He said he ran Pastor Jamal out but he is not the one who should be run out of the community are the ones I just mentioned the very people who treat you like sheit while you are spending money in their stores. SMFH get a clue please!!!!

Where is Pastor Bryant's photo of his work in the hood? Instead of taking a dig at the people and their lack of entrepreneurship skills, he should have shown the people that I do have your back. He is supposed to be a man of God and he couldn't come back with positivity. Ump... Every hood has corner stores, and who wants to own that. I'm not knocking a dream, but come on. Show your work in the hood. Jamal, you can't find one picture with a family of a slain kid or feeding the homeless.

What Bryant meant by posting that meme was accurate as hell, his INTENTIONS are good. He's right. Whomever this PMK Boom is, he's trying to make it seem like black people are tight, and alright, but we aren't. If we force the indian, asian, and Arab to leave the blocks with their liquor stores, corner stores, and chicken and seafood shacks, then who's gonna replace them? Will we open our own? Nope! The hood is on the opposite side of the bridge from me, there's a black owned cleaners, and there's an Asian run cleaners, not far from each other. Which of the two do you all think the people of that community frequent? They put their money in the Asian cleaners, and the cold part is that most folk have to pass the black owned cleaners to get to the Asian owned cleaners, and the black dude even makes deliveries, he'll bring your clothes to you, you think those people care? Black people are so divided, but be the first ones to cry racism, but most of us hate each other just as much if not more than whitey hates us. We first have to unite, it's a critical part of any fight.
Bryant is a prime example of this division, he shows up to the party three years late, and amid his own scandal, in hopes of making himself look good, and to try to make us forget about his drama. Bryant and all those other so called black community activists could care less about us, not one of them. They just talk a good game. Enough to get by.

But if we don't come together as one, every thing we do will continue to be a joke. Two beautiful black women can't be together in one room without some degree of hate, it's pittiful, we're pittiful. It's time to do better.

He's right as hell.... but why didn't he say this to the dude that was in his face on camera when he had the opportunity to do so..challenged the dude you know..He did a BITCH MOVE...scary ass..smh

He ain't lying. Them niggas don't own shit in them hoods

This is some bullshit. Unless he is staging community boycotts against those merchants why use them to help make his claim? Everybody knows who owns those stores. What he didn't show are the Black-owned businesses in the area. They do exist, for those that don't know. He could have given them some publicity if he wanted to be helpful, instead of bringing attention to this nonsense. #pettypreacher

It's not just some random weekly rally. It's called West Wednesday, to bring attention to the killing of Tyrone West and other atrocities committed by local police. It is organized by the West family and supported by local community members and activist groups. They do all kinds of good things in the community, but you won't read about them here. Check out @BaltimoreBloc to find out what's really going on (make a contribution of some sort while you're at it - if you feel like it). Don't expect to get the full story on a gossip blog that wouldn't give their causes any attention if they didn't appear to have some snaky, comedic or gossip value.

Black folks please stop blowing money on junk food and other unhealthy food and toxins, like alcoholic beverages and cigarettes. These sharks don't live in your community and only serve to suck whatever financial resources they can from it. All you are doing is financing a life for them and their families that you should probably be trying to finance for yourself.

But couldn't he have brought this all up when he was talking to PFK to his face, or to anyone there to listen. Real activists would understand where the anger from the community is coming from, instead of trying to "shade" on instagram, that's corny.

He didn't show people owning homes and different businesses in AA communities... he showed liquor store owners. That's it. Praise that preacher all you want but him and his ilk are also what's killing our communities.

I still don't know who this nigga is.

OT: I've been thinking about converting to being a Jehovah's witness. Any witnesses out there recommend it?

Though factual, this is a terrible meme for a Pastor to be using to make a point. Rather than fire back to some valid questions with a meme - respond in a productive way, answer BOOM's question and talk about how you plan to help the children/young gunners that you are mocking.

Beautifully written, @9:51AM.

One thing I've noticed about black people is a lack of loyalty to each other. Granted, there are aspiring black entrepreneurs who I would imagine would like to open a place of business in a predominantly black area, but just by mere observation you can see that they would not get the support from black people they need if they would start a business elsewhere. Black people have this underlying hatred for another black person's success (regardless of how that person got his/her success or if that hatred is even justifiable). There's a contempt among the "haves" and "have nots" in the black community; on one end you see black employees degrade, demean and talk complete sh*t about their black employer even to their faces but wouldn't dare express such sentiments towards their non-black employers, while on the other end you have some black employers who treat their black employees with utter disrespect and make up stereotypical generalizations about them but give their non-black employees the individualized dignity they deserve.

Until Black people begin to embrace the concept of LOYALTY towards each other again, in the family, in the community, in the "church", and in business, you will continue to see said Indian, Arab, and Chinese store owners selling you liquor, lottery tickets, lemon pepper wings, washing your clothes at the laundromat and cashing your checks...

Sorry but blacks don't own nothing. You think they own their houses but don't pay taxes, property taxes and your mortgage and watch that house get taken. Same for your businesses. Deuteronomy 28:43 43 The foreigners (Africans,IndianS, ArabS, and Chinese )who reside among you will rise above you higher and higher, but you will sink lower and lower. 44 They will lend to you, but you will not lend to them. They will be the head, but you will be the tail.

I live in that neighborhood and Jamal Bryant doesn't live there or even have his church there. He uses it as a photo opportunity when the need fits. When there were men who actually live there cleaning the streets after the riots "Pastor" Bryant was in his home in the suburbs. He doesn't walk those streets he runs through there with cameras. The only time he us ever on the Westside is to get some shine. His church does very little and is not even located in that part of Baltimore. Also, stop making it seem like the people of Baltimore lack respect or that gang bangers "run" those streets. There are many black homeowners right in that neighborhood if you go a block or two over from the projects. We don't need his pictures of other ethnic groups that are in our community because I don't see him buying or running stores there either.

I will be the first to say that most of my bad treatment has come from blacks and I am black. I worked in an office setting for years and there was an older black woman there that gave me fever at every turn. We were the only 2 black people there. My daughters father was told by his best friend that I was to dark to marry. Some black people live with there head up there as and will snap on a black person. But can seem to find a little decency for a white person

^That's pretty foul. His friend probably felt that you were too dark to breed with (and may have told him that, too) since he said you were too dark to marry. Unfortunately some negroes will always believe that the YT man's ice is colder, sugar is sweeter, and water is wetter.

People are sick of Bryant and others like Bryant. They're always down for photo ops and interviews, as long as they can find a way to make themselves look like they're doing something for the oppressed. If he really wants to help make a difference he can get together with other preachers and send church members to city hall, the courthouse, rallys and protests by the bus loads in solidarity with the community.
