Money Woes Proceed Raid at Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles

Earlier this week Gladys Knight's son Shanga Hankerson was arrested by the Georgia Department of Revenue after a $1 million probe into his three Atlanta area Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles Restaurants [click here if you missed that].

Now a former manager claims the problems go far beyond taxes...

Former manager Charles Preston tells WSBTV the mid-town location would routinely make over $150k a week but he and other employees would have trouble cashing their paychecks.

Preston also claims he and the managers often had to pay for food out of their own pockets and that he finally quit after 8 years this past April.

Preston claims the cash flow troubles began about two years ago and that Shanga Hankerson was rarely ever at the restaurant.

This week government agents accused Shanga of using the tax money to fund his lavish lifestyle.
