David Otunga Wins the Wedding War

Last month there were rumors Jennifer Hudson's longtime fiancée, David Otunga, had given Jen a marriage ultimatum after they attended Ciara and Russell Wilson's wedding together [click here if you missed that].

Something must have clicked...

Jen recently told Essence Magazine
“After being at Ciara's wedding, I'm like, okay,” “I don't know, it inspired something. I just loved her dress. It was so beautiful. So that made me say, okay, all [of] my friends and peers are married now. You know what I mean?”
Jennifer and David got engaged back in 2008 [click here if you missed that].

It was probably hard for her to move forward with the wedding and not have her mother present. I know, I too lost my mother and it took me years to finally go thru with the ceremony. The healing and the guilt of moving forward with something so monumental is a hard thing to grasp, let alone physically do.

A dress inspired her - really immature. Good Luck

These are all reasons NOT to be married and are a strong predictor that her and her fiance will be divorced in a few years. What about "I realized how much I loved him and our family and I wanted to do this for us" or "We took our time and I believe the time is right for us ... " Loving someone's dress and peer pressure does not a strong marriage make. Those are weak foundations that will surely collapse.

I hope they get some good premarital counseling because I am sure some resentment and bitterness has already taken root in their relationship ... something just seems a bit off. I wish them much luck and happiness on their journey.

Who the hell stays engaged for 8 years?? That alone is a red flag for me. They could have been married a while ago, if that's the case. Long engagements usually means that there will be no marriage. Or, if they do get married, it may not last long. Her reasons for thinking about getting married now, was weak to me as well. I agree with 3:51 PM's comment. They probably will be divorced in a few years, should they make it down aisle.
