Jennifer Holliday Joins The Color Purple


Tony and Grammy Award winning actress Jennifer Holliday headed back to Broadway in The Color Purple...

According to reports powerhouse singer Jennifer Holliday will star as Shug Avery in The Color Purple on Broadway after Heather Headley ends her run on Oct 4.

Heather took over for Jennifer Hudson after she left the production under messy circumstances [click here if you missed that].

Fun Fact: Jennifer Holliday won a Tony award for her performance of Effie White in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls and Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar for portrayal of Effie White in the big screen version 25 years later.

I hope she learned her lesson also. She had a stank attitude during her fame years in Dreamgirls. That got her blackballed for over twenty years from doing anything related to Broadway. Jennifer say thank you Oprah.
