Nick Cannon Confirms Howard U Enrollment

Over the weekend Nick Cannon shocked his fans by claiming to be an incoming freshman at Howard University [click here if you missed that].

Nick confirms enrolling in school and explains why he chose Howard...

Nick Cannon tells ET Online,
"Nelson Mandela once said, 'Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world,' and with that said I have officially enrolled at Howard University."
"I am always seeking new challenges and continual growth and decided to obtain my first college degree from an institution that had a proven legacy of producing great minds. I have friends, mentors and colleagues who attended Howard University. I have heard about the famed Howard Homecoming since I was a kid growing up in California and knew that Howard would be the perfect place for me to further my education. I look forward to this new journey in my life and am excited about the possibilities ahead."

He is going to cause a scene. What will be his major? Unless he is learning entertainment law, law in general, business or thinking about getting into politics he really doesn't need to attend. He's been in the entertainment industry so long he should be teaching courses or wait out an honorary degree.

He's only going for the homecoming? Oh, ok...

Everyone knows that FAMU has the best homecoming!

@9:22 I'm sure he'll be taking online classes, or will be paying someone to "help" him get through...but I like thinking Nick is different.

FYI Nick HU Homecomings aren't what they used to be...

Nick is looking for fresh, new, impressionable pretty black groupies. Maybe Howard can teach him how to keep his private life on hush. He talks too much...about nothing.

Damn, some of you are never happy. After all the cuts to Federal funding for HBCU's and a number of their endowments dwindling, perhaps this will perk up interest and attendance. Please try to look on the bright side, y'all.

Good for you Nick but why announce this to the world? What is the agenda? Are you getting paid?
Tune in... Naw just kidding.

See that's what I'm talking about! Go to school, get an education, the greatest foundation. I've heard people say, "when you have money, what do you need an education for?" I can't agree, yes,the educational system is flawed, and backwards as hell, but it is a descent shot at getting through this difficult life pretty comfortably. Go to school, sacrifice today for a greater tomorrow. Good luck to Mr. Cannon, I hope he can exceed his goals.

@9:22 kudos to Nick, but my child goes to Howard and feels the same way.

why you would want to be in a class with children at this stage in your life is beyond reason, but, hey, do you.

I guess: if you got nothing to do, why do it here? Homecoming?! Seriously?!?!

that was the question

but hey, do you. hope it's not too much of a distraction for the other students

no hate, just sayen . . . there are so many ways to view a situation. like all other choices, it will be both good and bad for some

do you, nick, but leave those kids alone . . .

Good for Nick. So tired of folks with their negative energy.
BTW, he should have chosen Tuskegee.

See what happens when you return to "brown sugar"? You get your right mind back!! Yay, so happy for him

Nick won't be a distraction at Howard. Howard students are accustomed to celebrities and elites being on campus so it will be another day on the yard. Nick attending shouldn't bother students in class because there are always non-traditional students in courses so no one pays your age any attention - it's college not high school. For the record Howard homecomings are epic and unlike most HBCUs because they are truly a production. I love all my HBCUs and appreciate the differences in our cultures and homecomings!

i laughed so hard . . . said...

no matter what you do, somebody is going to be unhappy with the choice you made.

I think its good that he is able to go to school after his success
At least he is rich now and dont have to pay back any student loans

this is going to be a great example for his children. teach them to "fish" and not rely on nepotism. too many of these celebrities and their children get a free pass.

Life is lived in opposites every day. To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, as with most things, one man's blessings is another man's curse
