The Color Purple Set to Close on Broadway


The Color Purple the Musical is closing on Broadway as ticket sales turn sluggish...

According to reports the last performance of The Color Purple is set to take place January 8, 2017.

British actress Cynthia Erivo will close out the role of Miss Celie with Jennifer Holliday starring as Shug Avery.

They made over 600K just last week, money isn't the issue. I don't believe this revival was supposed to go more than a year because they are taking the show on tour...but yes, it will close in NYC.

"Hamilton" ate up all the ticket sales; I was thankful to a co-worker who let me tag along, but damn Hamilton was corny. I kept waiting for the fun to start, but it was wack from beginning to end. My co-worker won the tickets at a silent auction for AIDS research, so it was a win/win, but damn. I'll never understand all the fuss.
