Tracey Morgan Walmart Driver Pleads Guilty

Two years ago comedian Tracy Morgan was involved in a horrific auto accident that took the life of his friend and writing partner, James 'Jimmy Mac' McNair, after a Walmart truck slammed into the back of his limo bus on the New Jersey turnpike [click here if you missed that].

The Walmart driver has pleaded guilty...

According to reports 37-year-old Jonesboro, GA resident Kevin Roper pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated assault this week in a plea deal that will keep him out of jail.

Under the terms of the deal Roper can avoid prison and will have no criminal record if he performs community service and satisfies other conditions over the next three years.

The driver was wrong, but he should have spilled the tea on WalMart's business practices because there is enough blame to go around. Oh, and let's not get started on the party bus driver...Why was he allowing any truck to get that close to his bumper anyway? As a seasoned limo driver he should have known better. Lesson for everyone - Google the years of experience and the Yelp reviews before you rent a limo or party bus.

^^^Yup! This is sad all around: It's often hard for men of color to get CDL jobs, but WalMart will hire anyone so people with no experience are often forced to take the WalMart jobs just to get the experience to get a better job.

With that, WalMart allegedly forces their drivers to drive longer hours, make longer hauls, and fudge their sleep logs. As someone who drives the NJ Turnpike every week, I know that the traffic stops literally on a dime (as in 65 to 0 in 20 seconds) and if you don't know that and no one tells you and you're a novice CDL driver driving on little to no sleep it's a cocktail for disaster.

I see my comment on WalMart got deleted but 9:55 tried responding to it. What I wrote was:

We hear so much about the compensation Tracy got, but has anyone heard how much the family of the comedic writer who died received? He wrote Tracy's jokes. I would think if Tracy's life was worth $90M his was somewhere close because he made most of the comedic show commentary for Tracy. Yet I never hear anyone speak on his behalf. What did his family get for his death?
