Yesterday news broke that Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, had been allowed to leave South Africa after a 10 month detainment for violating immigration laws by trying to leave the country using an unrecognized 'World Passport [click here if you missed that].'

Now South African officials confirm Yasiin has reverted to using his U.S. issued travel documents...

South African officials confirmed yesterday that Yasiin Bey left the country after apologizing to the government and that he has applied for a U.S. Passport.

Meanwhile Yasiin announced a farewell concert series to commemorate the end of his rap career.

The series kicks off at the Apollo Theater in Harlem on December 21 before shows at the Kennedy Center from December 31 to January 2.

Each night will feature a different album and special invited guests.
