Antoine Fuqua Drops Out of Scarface

Last year Antoine Fuqua confirmed he was in talks to direct a Scarface reboot with a modern day L.A. twist [click here if you missed that].

Fuqua has walked away from the project...

According to reports scheduling conflicts with the filming of the sequel for The Equalizer starring Denzel Washington lead to his dropping out.

Meanwhile, Scarface is moving forward with production while a new director is sought.

Actor Diego Luna has been cast as Tony Montana.

Please leave Scarface alone, no need for these wack ass remakes.

Ugh God forbid someone actually gets off their lazy asses to write an original story. Why mess with Scarface?

I'm not here for it. Brian De Palma's 1983 Scarface is a classic! However, keep in mind 1983 Scarface is a modern day remake of the ORIGINAL Howard Hughes-Scarface filmed in 1932.

Thanks, I didn't know that 8:24, I need to find that. Well, at least DePalma waited nearly 50 years to do the remake.

Smart move. This would be the 3rd "Scarface"... leave it alone.

Should just not be re-made all together. This movie spurred many young men to dream of being a drug dealer. The drug wars of the 80s & early 90s all had boys in the streets trying to be Tony Montana. This new generation of kids with the bullshit music they listen to now and WAY LESS morals and home training than kids from the 80s had will take in that glorifying drug dealing and violence and start up some whole new shit.

Even Jay Z says in his song IGNORANT SHIT - "Scarface the movie did more than Scarface the rapper to me..."

Diego Luna? So Tony is going to be Mexican? In today's political climate that will go over like a lead balloon. Latinos will say it's a stereotype, the right wing will say it's an example of Mexican drug dealing, and the rest of us will just stay home and watch the 83 version which as been on Fios for free all month. Just scrap the entire project and write some new material.

These MFs kill me remaking or rebooting something that does NOT need to be remade nor rebooted. This will be trash. There's going to be way more blood and gore...way more sex scenes and a lot of rap music.
