Proud of you MR.CARTER!!!

How much he paid for this when Tupac wasn't even chosen? And I'm not a big fan of PAC and say this.

1:04

Pac didn't write as many hits for as many years. Period.

@1:10

It doesn't matter! Dead people get a lot of posthumous awards and accolades. Your generation just don't know what the fuck good music is anymore! But when Adele won AOTY, that was a wake up call to you musically declined, tone deaf millennials. What about Andre 3000? Lauryn Hill? Naw... it's because Camel is the mascot of rich, white old men.

I'm sorry. Jay Z a songwriter?!?!

These awards might as well be raffle tickets these days the way they give them out. I thought of him as a lot of things, but a songwriter?!

Nahhhh, bruh! What song did he write? Bars now count as songs, now!

Not mad @ 1:43; we just know better; but you younguns go ahead. keep on thinking your age group is all of that; when truthfully speaking, you're not building anything for anyone else to stand on, but numbers.

I thought Jay Z didn't write down his lyrics j/k. I'm not going to dismiss the award because he does deserve it, I'm just wondering where Nas' award is.

So the Carters are paying for more useless titles now? They are all over the place like bird sh*t lately. We all know Nas, Kurrupt, Keith, Dead Prez, and Mark Curry (along with countless other ghostwriters) were responsible for almost all of the hits we love from the 90's and aughties; Jay-Z is a talented songwriter, but Hall of Fame material for the Space Jam song? Okay.

Nas wrote for Jay Z's Empire State of mind plus he allegedly has other songs written as well. But either way, congrats for the award.

Anonymous said...

Jay-Z's should get an award for stealing written songs from others ppl that he didn't write. Jay-Z a big lip camel mixed with horse.

Anonymous said...

Nas, you the real mvp!

Anonymous said...

Yall BIG mad with all these alternative facts, LOL. Nobody writes for Jay Z. He doesn't even write himself. There's multiple docus and behind the scenes footage showing his creative process. That said, whether it's technically written down or not, Jay has crafted a number of hits for himself and others for over 20 years and deserves this recognition along with the others.

Writers listed on the right. But where's Nas??

Anonymous said...

@6:48 Nas ghostwritten for J. Ghostwriters don't get credit they just money. it's why when interviewers tried to bring up their past beef, he gets real mad. He ain't tryna F his money up

Andre 3000 said it best "95% of artists don't write their music." So y'all folks supporting these celebs PAYING to get song writing credits just got Served. Nonetheless, congrats.

Then throw some MONEY in there somewhere and we can all understand why he would win.

Jay Z is very lyrical and some of those lyrics catch on BUT Nas is the real songwriter.

Anonymous said...

Nas has NEVER ghostwritten for Jay Z. They don't even have the same style. Y'all just can't let nobody be great. The origin of their beef has NOTHING to do with writing credits.

Consequence also reportedly ghostwritten for Jay z

@ 6:17 EXACTLY!!!!!!!

The only way Jay could get this award over Nas is if Jay PAID for it which i believe he did.

Jay will ONLY be remembered for his beats.

Nas' Lyrics from even a decade ago much less his recent ones are so beyond that bubble gum street bragging that Jay does .

It's like comparing elementary to grad school.
Like c'mon...this is a Joke

Nas is the true MVP (aside from Pac)

Say it again for the people in the back who need to hear it 11:18. Nas is a proud Black man and an ill MC who writes his own lyrics. There's more to true rap than just putting rhyming words together because if that were the case Mother Goose would have the #1 album in America right now. Like somebody said, listen to Dead Prez, Nas, Immortal Technique and Kurrupt if you want to hear rappers with talent. Jay-Z makes fun party "Space Jam" stuff but there's no comparison.

Jay Z has ghost written A LOT stuff!!! You would be surprised.. And big hits at that too!! "What About Dre", for one..

Facts can never lose against emotions!!

I have my beef with Jay too!!! I think he deserves this..

It makes me so happy that people are waking up. Sometimes I don't even have to spill tea because people are waking up to hollywood BS.
But yeah, Jay-Z doesn't write most of his rhymes even to this day. Jay has been faking it even before he met Beyonce.

Before the stans start foaming at the mouth I'll tell you this, very few singers and rappers write their own music. Even the ones who know how to play instruments.
I personally think the music that Jay puts out is a joke, he only ever raps about how great he is. He pushes extreme narcissism. And I know he's a sellout in every way because we never hear that Jay was fighting with his record label over anything. He does exactly what they tell him to do, when they tell him to do it. When you hear about a singer fighting their label, know that that singer still has a soul. They still have a voice and a conscience. The ones who just go along silently are shells.

You cannot trust published writing credits! Dammit, still some deep sleepers in this thread.
Artists know how bad it looks when other people write their songs for them, so they'll get young unknown talented writers and force them to give most of their credits. Y'all know Bey is notorious for this, which is why she was snubbed hard over that song from dream girls. The academy don't play that crap.
Some greedy stars tend to vampire on to other lyricists. For example here's a likely scenario,

A young broke songwriter/rapper who doesn't know how hollywood really works finally gets his song into the hands of some big time star's team. Not through the label but through the publicist side, or cousin pookie or whatever.
That stars team sees the talent, they can either bring his material to the label, the label hands it over to their writing team to perfect, if the original writer is lucky, he'll get a payoff from the singers team, not the label, but the writing credits will go to the singer.
What can also happen is that the singer will start a pimp-hoe relationship with this writer. The singer will find him work with other people for a cut of all his earning and a lot of times even writing credit.
Some of the people who actually wrote the hits y'all love will never be known to the public and they can either shut up and get paid (not much) or start talking and get burned out of the industry or even really hurt.

The reason Beys music fell off a couple years ago, 2 reasons, is that she got a reputation for screwing people over. So no one was bringing her team raw material anymore. Her slae had gone down already so the label wasn't giving her the best either. She was screwed from 2 sides.

If anyone is an aspiring songwriter reading this, STOP GIVING YOUR SONGS TO SINGERS AND RAPPERS, Same goes for beats. Approach THE LABEL. NOT THE SINGER/RAPPER.
Here's some more free advice, it's worth it to learn how to produce music. how to produce finished songs with beats and everything. Shop your music around, don't just take it to one label, the more people are aware of you the better. It gets harder for one team to screw you coz they always trying to make each other look bad so if one team screws you, the other will leak it to the press. How do you think all Beyonce music theft stories come out, some times it's not even the original owner that leaks it.

Congratulations Jigga! I'm glad somebody that is talented but black was chosen!! I thought Jigga and Bey were broke, how are they buying awards?

Anonymous said...

@1:37 Absolutely correct - thank you for sharing. Makes us see why the Awards Shows are such a mirror of a mess. Beyonce knows who she is but acts like a spoiled brat when she doesn't get her way. Jay has built her ego up to disastrous levels.

People will praise that fat, white bitch Awhale (who is talented but there are many black women in church choirs that can out sing her on a day they have laryngitis) but will tear down the achievements and accolades of their own race! Smdh

Anonymous said...

So he's a writer now???!!????

Not buying it. Never.

Anonymous said...

Congrats sir! Never mind all these raggedy bastards, you been in the game for what? 20 years? More? Id rather listen to your raps than anything these new rappers have to say because it's pure garbage.

This is just another to distract you from yet another fake pregnancy, infuriate you, cause confusion, and play along side the rest of the ridiculous events.

If I really cared or had the time I would post all his lyrics and count the curse words and money boasting, as well as the following words: Hoe, Drugs, Cash, TyTy, My, I, me.....

Anyone out there every saw the movie Idiocracy if not please do, this honor fall right in line.
