Alicia Keys Inspired by Aaliyah

Alicia Keys reveals her 2003 hit single 'No One' was inspired by the death of R&B singer Aaliyah...

In a segment on The Voice Alicia explains,
"I was on a plane, and I think being on a plane and knowing she passed away after a plane crash, there was just this sentiment of being present in the moment and really nothing else mattering but those that you love."
"I think that feeling was really present in my life at that time and really right in my face."
"I wrote it really quickly, but in order to produce it the way that you hear it, it took forever. Nothing would come out right. Every version that I did, every arrangement that I did was just wrong. It was such a labor of love."

Aaliyah was overrated to begin with. Just stating facts. I like her but seriously, com' on folks.

Anything to remind people you're still alive huh Alicia. Yall are correct, that shitty song is about Toucan Sam and it came out in 2007. Whoever's writing these stories today must be a temp.

She tried it... she know darn well she talking about that dude wife

@8:47

Nothing overrated about her. If you liked her music then you would understand. If you didn't then you missed the boat.

Back OT:

Is Keys back working with Jeff Robinson again? If so that would be the best career move she's made in years. Her stint on the Voice won't last, especially if Seacrest gets Kanye to join the revamped version of American Idol on NBC and it turns out to be a hit. That would only spell doom for the Voice which has never produced a star unlike AI.

Aaliyah is an icon

Anonymous said...

^^^^ no icon but she is still being used by the music industry. Fine example above with this Keys woman.

7:21 I came here to say the same thing. Thank you!

@8:59

That was a shitty song. But suburban white bread people liked it so it was popular. You know most suburban, middle America whites have bland taste in music, food, and fashion.

Yep thats when Keys really started screaming on record. Mess.

I like maybe 3 or 4 of her songs, and I like her as a person...but I feel she's hugely overrated, musically. She can't sing and has no stage presence. And the majority of her songs sound like remixes of the same 2 songs.

But she's a good person and aside from the man'taking episode, a good role model for young girls.

Alot of well known, A listers are overrated. Thanks for giving us tea about what the song really meant

Alicia has become soooooo annoying. She had so much potential in the beginning then her singing turned into yelling and she hooked up with a married man. She thinks she's deep earth mother goddess but is really an industry has been.
