Chance the Rapper Donates $1 Million to Chicago Public Schools

Grammy Award winning artist Chance the Rapper donates $1 million of his personal funds to the Chicago Public Schools Foundation...

From ABC News
Chance the Rapper donated $1 million of his personal money to the Chicago Public School Foundation, which he announced at a Monday afternoon news conference following a meeting with Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner last week to discuss funding options, which he described as "vague" and "unsuccessful."
"Our kids should not be held hostage because of political positioning," Chance said at the press conference at Wescott Elementary school.

That's a beautiful thing. Good job.

That's the way to do it, now monitor the money given so that it is truly targeted to the kids not the administration. Just a little hint ...

u stole my comment 7:19. Luvs it!

^^ Yes, they need to monitor the money.

Sooo. He basically gave money to a foundation that is already has had and likely still has leaders known for corruption? If he doesn't spell out exactly how he wants that money used (ie to buy specific computers), that money will just be wasted like the monies they already receive for operations. Just saying.

^^^^ Correct Stipulate that the money can only be used in the classroom: books, computers, supplies, music, art, etc.. Document everything!

I like him. He seems to be a very genuine person.

He better than me. I would've took that money and moved some familes out that shity ass city. Don't pay for me to stay pay for me to get up out this bitch. But this is nice. Watch where that money go though. It should go strictly on the kids needs

Nice sentiment...poor decision. CPS needs to be gutted and recruit all the new staff from out of state. The only people that support the teachers ARE THE BUM ASS TEACHERS.

@8:12 Good point, I didn't even think about that. These foundations are all frauds aren't they?

OMG, only on here can people find something negative about to say about a black man donating a million dollars to a black school district. That's one reason why we can't get anywhere as a people.

I don't think anyone is critiquing Chance's donation. The concern is whether or not this wonderful gesture of money will go to actually helping these children or line the pockets of thieves.
I don't know what our concern has to do with us getting anywhere as people.

No one is dissing Chance. He's a great dude doing great things. Problem is, this is the equivalent of giving your crack head uncle a million dollars cause you hope he can work it out.

Where did he get 1 million cash from?
Also i heard offers of 5-10 million dollars offering him to sign record contracts and he turned them down
I also heard his music wasnt that great
I know he aint get all this loot from touring yet
He just came out n the industry
Smh , all smoke and mirrors

@10:37

Pay attention.

@11:37

Tours are the only thing that pay in music. Hes been on tour since 2012 all over earth. You late. This lil nigga sells out arenas with no label and its all profit. Thats why he give away his albums for free. Its pretty genius and the new model for musical success.

Utmost respect to him but as many mention on here i hope he included stipulations and demands they provide him with an audit trail of exactly where his money has been spent.

Bruh, that's wonderful. But I still hate your Kit Kat commercial.

So basically he just gave $1 million to a bunch of money-leeching criminals...Got it.
