WHAT??? He made the network. If it was money, you better give in and give it to him. He's been with BET forever.

@9:00

Bob Johnson "made" the network. I say good move, bring in some new blood. BET hasn't had decent programming in over ten years.

I grew up when BET used to be amazing. Teen Summit, Video Soul, O.G. Rap City, BET news, BET sports, etc. The network has been a shell of it's former self.

@9.15

Yes and when those shows abandoned the culture the culture took a turn for the worse. We NEED those type of shows again. Cita's World, Hits from the streets even 106 and Park. (With Free and AJ)

Yes 9:15 and 9:53! Now more than ever we need "Teen Summit" and other positive shows for the kids. (As long as it's not watered down crap that perpetuates stereotypes, which Viacom has a history of doing with their programming i.e. "Love and Hip-Hop" franchises.

Its obvious BET programming has gone down under his guidance.

I have a friend that works for BET and they have been trying to get Steven out of there for years because they have the talent but they aren't utilizing it. They hire these great writers etc. but then make them write for these garbage shows that are mostly Stevens idea.

If you notice BET has switched up their programming a lot and its due to him being on his way out...

Also because of Steven, BET missed out on a lot of shows other networks picked up that became very successful and people started taking notice.

That's interesting 10:02. With all the TV options re: Roku, Apple TV, Netflix, people don't have to watch whatever is on anymore. Or as the Ad Execs say "The dogs aren't eating the dog food" and that's because the slop they've been serving has been cold, stale, and disgusting for years. It's time for new/better content!

Agree with these comments. Once they abandoned the culture they lost a large group of "working" black adults. Black news & Teen Summit should be a BET staple. And they progressed with programming with all of this talent for original series....
Stephen was part of the problem & not being receptive to change. He's the guy that gave "hide ur wife & kids" 5mn airtime at the fukin hip hop awards. It was disgraceful to all artist sitting in the audience & who can forget Rihanna throwing that money in his face....He'll be aiight

^^^^^They "never" progressed

This is great NEWS, I think this guy has been the biggest issue at BET. Debra is not familiar with the Hip Hop culture she only knows Beyonce and that's about it so she relies on Stephen to run the Network and he is just as unfamiliar with the culture as she is. So yes please boot him out and bring back College Hill!!!!
