Beyonce & Jay Z Officially a Billion Dollar Couple

Beyonce and Jay Z's combined income cross the billion dollar mark...

From Forbes
Beyoncé and husband Jay Z are set to welcome twins this summer, joining their daughter Blue Ivy, 5. Buying new baby equipment shouldn't be much of a problem: Beyoncé and Jay Z are now officially a billion-dollar couple.
Per FORBES' list of America's Wealthiest Self-Made Women--released today--Beyoncé, 35, has amassed a personal fortune of $350 million. The total for Jay Z, 47, has soared to $810 million per last week's ranking of hip-hop's richest acts (he trails No. 1 Diddy by just $10 million). That brings the couple to a combined net worth of $1.16 billion and counting.

Good for them. I expect they'll invest well and in a few years will be able to retire. No snark, I hope this isn't all BS smoke and mirrors.

They paid for this article. Jay is in financial trouble and has been for some time. Tidal sunk a lot of his and Beyonce's assets. They cant keep it afloat and the Sprint purchase of Tidal fell through after a THOROUGH review of their financials.

They are looking for new buyers and IMAGE is everything when you're trying to bait folks into purchasing what they CLAIM is a successful venture.

I truly do hope they get it together and it works out. I love to see my people winning!!

While Forbes and the Hollywood Reporter report on general information on celebrity earnings, why are the Carters and how much they make always in the news? Who are they trying to convince they're rich? Us or them?

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know who Eddie C. Brown, Robert F. Smith, and Richard Parsons are? They're actual Black millionaires with net worth that diversified and assets they don't talk about. I thought the truly wealthy never let anyone know how much they really have?

HHIC said...

That's great. Their Black children, and hopefully generations to come will hopefully build from this. It's not often we have "old money". Maybe 100 years from Now the name Carter will hold weight like it does for the Hilton's, Rothchild's and so on. I always saw that happening with Whitney, Michael, and Prince. I'd always envision their heirs carrying on based on the empires they'd built. Prince didn't have children, Whitney's heir is gone, and Michael's kids aren't Black no matter what anyone says. I won't debate it.lol

TRUTH!!!

Chrissy Snow said...

12:13 is the truth. Something tells me I am going to enjoy these comments.

Anonymous said...

@12:06 all the people that dont have money! Most of the comments will talk about how this is a lie and how broke they are. Its all reverse psycology to feel better about being broke themselves.

Soul Touch said...

12:13: they are always in the news because you choose to visit sites that make them a priority because they, the sites, know, good or bad, people respond which equals hits which means money.

Congrats to them for their mutual success.

FAKE STORY. Yall are delusional to believe this. Lurker will come in here with the real tea soon.

Anonymous said...

So now Forbes is lying??? So in that case nobody's net worth on the list should be taken seriously. You cant just cherrypick whats real and what isnt. This isnt church. Lol

BeGone is 35 AGAIN?

Do Reme said...

12:44 they skew the numbers for a lot of these celebs

I'm really starting to believe these random tea droppers are on to something...every time someone drops dirt on them an article or blog or something is "conveniently" released to contradict. Someone has been quietly spilling the tea on RWS and hopefully no one has ran them off bc I'd love to know the details behind this article.
I don't believe a word of it.

Do Reme said...

12:37 exactly!

Anonymous said...

12:51 pm hehehehehehe.....yeah 35 again????! Wow!!

Anonymous said...

Who gives a fuck? This is their combined worth and they barely see most of that money in paper. I'm sick of these two. I'm always proud of black people that make it but these two, I'm not happy for them. They are the worst: bragging, arrogance, avarice, demon worshipping, materialism, and just plain tackiness.

Anonymous said...

I could have swore BeyWitch was 34 at least three years ago

Anonymous said...

12:58 - You're correct. Google the history of "Forbes" magazine, it's founder, and how he said he was a "tool" for capitalism in it's many forms. Forbes needs clicks and the Carters bring them. It's not impossible the two 12:13's are correct.

Remember, when the "Forbes Richest" lists come out, it's an ESTIMATE of reported wealth and most of the wealthiest people on the list do not respond to Forbes inquires. When is the last time Carlos Slim or Bill Gates' personal wealth was discussed in Forbes apart from their businesses? Yet we hear about the Carter's alleged wealth every other week?

So yes, Forbes can be wrong and the Carters could be lying/paying for coverage.

Anonymous said...

Does it really matter?? Even if they have a combined net worth of 5 million its still more than we will ever have.

Anonymous said...

2:21 ~ With solid investments in sound companies, high-yield savings, and decent contributions to your 401K you can yield 8 to 10 million by the end of your career if you're willing to sacrifice now. Raise your expectations.

PhxSun said...

^^^^BINGO! @2:49

Anonymous said...

Please! 2:49. If it was that easy then everybody would be rich and you know thats not the case.

Anonymous said...

Pleeez! If they had half of that they would be able to buy a house in Low Angeles or the mansion they wanted. Ask any real estate agent in LA if they have access to a billion dollars and they will laugh you out of the office like they did Jay who has too much debt to be on a seed. But whatevs

Anonymous said...

3:07 It's 2:49 ~ Even with circumstances that are not what I described, having higher expectations is possible. You are not your circumstances and you can save what you can, when you can. I know it's not easy and even if you don't get to "millions" you can build something. No snark, it can be done.

Gtfoh just because multimillionairers owe debts doesn't mean that they are broke. Oompa owes over 150 financial institutions and those are just the MAJOR ones and we all know that he's not broke!

Worth a Billion but out here working like you're worth a Buck. If this is true Jay needs to sit his ass down and allow the next generation to come up and shine. What 50 year old worth a BILLION wants to be out here working like they did at 30. And considering he retired about 20 years ago it's safe to say he didn't see himself at 50 still holding a mic.

Rich Bitch said...

Have ya'll been around billionaires or do you just like to talk shit? I work next to a billionaire in his 50's and he works harder than anyone I know. Lot's of responsibility and hundreds of people are depending on you. You all sound so jealous! Peasants!! Try being happy for people and you might get somewhere in life!

Anonymous said...

@3:59- your mindset is for you but there are millionaires and billionaires that COULD but choose not to retire. Jigga is amongst many people in the music industry who claimed to have retired but continue to work.
The Carters have been to some of the most exotic places in the world, tasted some of the finest cuisine, stayed at the most exquisite places but that gets old. Believe it or not some rich people love working. Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are billionaires that CHOOSE to continue to work. Not everyone with money wants to travel/lay around and spend it.

Anonymous said...

4:12 Thanks for the comment and while I understand what you mean, you obviously haven't learned anything from that man if you're openly calling people "peasants." And working at one of his call centers doesn't equate "working next to" a billionaire...I kid, but seriously, win with honor.

Anonymous said...

Forbes is seriously questionable with this Carter estimation. Really, twins on the way and you're living in a hotel? Rented homes for years? Lurker needs to visit this site.

@ 4:40, you're right, I felt bad after I wrote that but didn't want to re-write my post. I'm not a stan but people are relentless when it comes to one of the only successful and popular BLACK LOVE couples people from my generation have. I just got tired of the shallow comments, then turn around and make one myself!! I stand corrected :) But let's be clear, I work on Wall Street.

Anonymous said...

People will believe anything. Forbes is trash.

This is all PR.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the response 5:19. That's great re: your career! It's really nice to hear about people of color doing well.

But in that work on Wall Street you probably understand why some of us are side-eying the Forbes article. Had the report been written up in Crain's or Bloomberg it might be more believeable. Either way, my hope is that younger people will emulate wealth builders like you. They need to learn that it's better to run things behind the scenes. In that Jay-Z always seems like front person who let's white folks use him for pennies of his total worth, I just can't muster support for him

Chrissy Snow said...

5:48 Well stated.
Of course we all celebrate Black Excellence. Beyonce is an amazing entertainer and Jay will probably go down in history as one of the best to ever do it but these people are not worth a billion.
Think about how many Air Jordans and t-shirts Michael Jordan had to sell before he reached a billion. The monster deal Dr. Dre cut with Apple in order to get there. Hell, Michael Jackson had to die before he got there. Now how exactly did the Carters get there?
Albums? Nah.
Major Business deals? Pul-eeze.
Endorsements? Where.
I just don't get why MSM insists on placing these two out in front when there are plenty of successful Black couples with real money out there doing their thing.

Anonymous said...

7:02 and every other non-stan knows what time it is. We're not anti-Carter, we're just wary of the MSM propping up two allegedly barely literate school drop-outs as examples. It sends the kids the wrong message.

Anonymous said...

I think its hard this believe especially when you factor in how bey and jay, especially Beyonce, stays getting sued. Didn't she have to pay 100 million to that game company? Or that $50 million to Pepsi. Bey rakes in on tours but they are elaborate. The bulk of what she earns goes to cover those expenses. I remember lady gaga saying she came from a number one tour broke because of her massive stage sets, Beyonce shoes are similar also high tech plus of course paying for huge entourage and the record company to support the tours. I would more readily believe Adele as her both her albums have gone diamond her Oscar wining song for a movie that raked in hundreds of millions, sell out tours with basic sets. I heard Adele is a major diva at Sony and they suck it up...because she brings in the money Beyonce not so much she's in thee red. Jay tidal need we say more lol

Anonymous said...

@744 Ummmm we have a mentally deranged, unqualified, racist, sexist, cyberbullying, trust fund baby as the LEADER of our country right now! Sending children the wrong message????? Ummm I think that ship has sailed.

Anonymous said...

Yes 8:17 you make great points, and I should have clarified: Black children are more likely to end up dead or in jail as high school drop-outs. Beyonce and Jay-Z are the exception. And re: Trump? He's the perfect example of a functionally illiterate WHITE man in America with tons of concessions made for him. Our children don't have that luxury.

Anonymous said...

Yall really think because someone's in debt they are broke. What you fail to understand is there is a difference between your regular ass being in debt and a multimillionaire/billionaire being in debt. Just like Trump, The Carters are faaaaaaar from broke and if you are waiting on it to happen then you better get comfortable because you'll be waiting forever.

Anonymous said...

Beyonce and Jay have NEVER encouraged children to drop out of high school. I don't know where yall get this BS from. If Black children really wanna get PAID they need to become pastors and reverends because that's where the real money is! LMAO!!!

Anonymous said...

^^^^^^ Well thank God you dont get paid to think.

Anonymous said...

Look this is how Forbes play. You gotta pay them to put you on this BS list. Some celebs will do it once or twice and be good, It's the really sad ones ones who have to do it every year.

This mag is ruthless.
A couple of years ago, Madonna tried to pay them to say she had become a billionaire and they refused. I think one of the editors has issues with her. But they have printed similarly ridiculous stories about other stars wealth like Jay and Bey.

So Madonna went and leaked the story herself through some other outlet. And the petty assholes at Forbes basically felt the need to write a rebuttal. They basically stripped her to the bones as to why she was no where near a billion. That was a bitch move, They coulda just let it be.

But if you pay them enough like Jay and Bey they will print this kind of BS.
Google "Madonna not on Forbes list", It was a couple of years ago.

Madonna is wiser with her money than these fools. She has the same financial advisers as the Queen, The Harry Potter girl, and a lot of other british celebs.
British stars in general are better with their money than American ones.

But back to the topic at hand. Bey and Jay aren't joint Billionaires. I don't want to get into too much detail but you can figure out for yourself how this is a ridiculous lie.

When a business goes under you don't just close doors and go home. There is a lot of money that goes into a business folding. Many times you still owe investors. You've probably taken on other loans. You probably bought goods on credit. You have severance packages to give out. There is so much money that still needs to come out of you even after the business has closed doors.
Beyonce and Jay's tours don't make 250 mil a pop. and everything comes out of the artists cut. All expenses. So on paper the artist can have a 25 or 30 percent cut but after paying for all the expenses of the tour they are lucky if they get to take home 10%.
Here is a sad truth about the entertainment industry. It's purpose is not to make stars rich. It's purpose is to make Studios and Record labels rich. The poorest people are the ones you see in front. That is how the industry is designed.

I know I spill tea on Jay and Bey a lot but they are no different from most of these celebs. What makes them worse is their constant lies and BS smoke and mirror, Their high and mighty attitude when they are just like every other slave in hollywood.

Do Reme said...

Who has the real estate tea? @12:30 why are they living in a hotel now all of a sudden

Long Time Lurker said...

I heard a few people were asking about me... lol lol....

Forbes ceased being a real financial industry resource and investment guide a good 20 years ago for any serious investor. The richest in Hip Hop was a business revenue campaign to sell more magazines and advertising,(Appealing to the African American Market) to bring much needed dollars to the dwindling periodical. Kinda of an oxymoron being a financial advice periodical but your business has been is serious financial distress for some years now. In a colossal blunder the Forbes family sold the magazine to Chinese investors for pennies on the dollar and ended in up a bitter lawsuit, complaining of getting stiffed on the deal. Not exactly the best source for any kind of worth while financial information....wouldnt you agree?

To add Insult to injury the article is in the special celebrity section of Forbes. Even for Forbes, the articles placement is dead give away thats its pure Celebrity PR fodder

So what magazines do serious investors, Billionaires, Multi-Millionaires, Movers and Shakers in the Financial Industry read.NOT FORBES.

Dont take my word for it, lets ask a few Billionaires. How about Bill Gates, Warren Buffet. Billionaire investor Warren Buffet told CNBC in a interveiw about his daily habits that he reads the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the New York Times, USA Today, the Omaha World-Herald, and the American Banker in the mornings. Not a single mention of Forbes. How about Billionaire Bill Gates, his daily reading list is Wall Journal, the New York Times, and the Economist.Hmmm

Long Time Lurker said...

PART TWO.......

The truth is, this Forbes announcement that Carters have reached Billionaire status has not sent shock waves through the financial Industry. It is transparent as to what it is, and a glaring testiment as to what Forbes has become. There was not a single mention of the Carters "Billionaire Status" in the most commonly read financial magazine on the globe ,The Iconic Wall Street Journal.

If I can borrow a phrase from Trump, the Carters Billionaire Couple pronouncement is indeed "Fake News". Keep in mind this is the business of entertainment, Jay Z is going on tour, and in this business ...his image drives sales.

A few comments bout TIDAL and Sprint.......as reported Sprint did indeed come to the rescue for Tidal, just in the Nick of time! As you have read Sprint purchased 33% of Tidal. This move shocked alot of Investment heavy hitters. So why, why now.......

Sprint has almost 40 Billion in debt , and continues to loose market share and post net loses(they keep loosing money). They are in dead last place (4th) of US major cell Carriers.Once again Jay Z and his Celebrity is called into play, to lure the black dollar. Particularly in the prepaid market, as Sprint launches several strategies in an agressive bid to move out of last place. The power of black dollar being just of those strategies.

Behind the scenes Masayoshi Son Owner of Softbank/Sprint is a gambler, a high stakes risk taker that frequents very private gambling events and throws money at long shots. He has ambitions to position himself as a prominent force in Music. He once launched a bid to purchase Universal Music.

To Masayoshi Son, strategically looking at the future of music (Streaming), this was his opportunity to carve out his own piece of the music pie.

With Princes' music rights also up for gamble, this was right up Masayoshi Sons alley. The icing on the cake was the possibility of a Michael Jacksonesque Billion Dollar Catologue. No coincidence here, that Prince confidant Van Jones has been moved into play. He was responsible for Prince having trust in Jay Z. What the Sprint deal amounts to is a loan to float Tidal for another year, there are back door clauses and Sprint can drop out this just thing just like HTC did to Beats by Dre.Stay tuned on this one folks.

One thing for certain Jay Z is tied to Live Nation at the Hip for Hundreds of Millions of Dollars for another 10 years, a new extension on a old debt. Jay Z and Beyonce will be indebted to music corporations for the rest of their natural life. So much for the Golden years.

Anonymous said...

Actually sounds like a typical business deal BUT Jay Z does not know to play - education is fundamental.

Chrissy Snow said...

Longtime Lurker returns and does not disappoint. Lesson to the up and coming artist is to take the independent route and live modestly.

Bless all your hearts. Do you break down Bill Gates, the Koch family, the Mars family or any other wyte person on the planet who has several Billion dollars at their disposal? Of course not. You'd rather stuff your faces with candy bars and stay clueless. I mean, it's not like any of YOU will even get to the million dollar mark let alone billion.

Anonymous said...

@10:34

Stay on topic, this is about the Carters decades of lying to public about a supposed wealth, yet, they own nothing independently.

20 years of being about to buy a Mansion, its ridiculous, and insulting.

Without label money to put on an appearance of wealth, their creditors and pending lawsuits would over come them, and the bottom of their facade would drop out.

We have right to voice our opinion at the audacity to sell poverty and drug dealing , and hood culture as the key to success, LOOK AT ME I MADE IT.

WE RESPOND WITH A RESOUNDING , NOT ON OUR WATCH

Anonymous said...

Really Live Nation is the inadequate force here, Jay is just the middleman. He has spent most of his/Beyonce's money and then some of theirs = debt to Live Nation.

Anonymous said...

What I want to know is... How in the hell did these two who are supposed to be so business savvy get so caught up in debt to this extreme? This is just as bad as someone dressed to the nines, fine dining, traveling, while bragging about their luxury top of the line Bentley Car and are really broke and living in the projects. No better than a ghetto superstar. -So are they living off credit and tax write offs? It almost sounds like the life of a straight up con artist.

Anonymous said...

12:27 live Nation did take some losses, that is true.

They restructured Jays contract to cut the fat. This is normal, they have trimmed the fat in alot of areas. Jay is lucky he wasnt dropped , but he owes too much money and he does have some money making ability in terms of touring.

He will get Zero dollars for Roc Nation Artist, Zero dollars for anything regarding recording and releasing music

Anonymous said...

12:59 Look at it as if your a traveling sales demo guy for a major corporation, lets say Apple. Apple will pay for your hotels, your car rentals, your meals, your expenses, in turn for your work.

This is the way a label works. The big difference is, with a record label your expected to pay it all back in full with interest. If you stayed in luxury hotels on tour, flew in Jets, ate at 5 star restaurants, demanded a excessive wardrobes and elaborate stage settings....all it has to payed back...

Anonymous said...

@1:17 PM Thanks for explaining this to me. I was hoping someone nice would respond because I really wanted to understand this. Actually, it sounds a bit like being enslaved on another level. IDK...I guess we're all enslaved in one way or anther, yet, I'm finding it hard to feel sorry for them. You know what I mean?

Anonymous said...

@5:21 No problem, if you ever saw the TV movie about TLC, watch that....because things have not changed one bit. In fact they have gotten worse. I totally get what you mean about feeling sorry for artist. I can tell you tho, labels dont feel sorry for them even more.

Labels entice the artist by throwing around big numbers, and offering a luxury life style, for artist like jay and bey....

The have become accustomed to certain life style, as well to ...presenting a certain image too much to ever want to be free.

Anonymous said...

@ 5:33pm or the new edition movie. the industry is ruthless. you are shackled to contracts...even the greats like prince and michael have had to work to the bone to get free. i guess that's why it's hard for artists to come together and build their own company. jay tried with tidal. he flopped because he lacks business since and he went about it all wrong. he was constantly talking down to blacks and/or demanding we support him because he is black but has never supported the black community. he made a rap about dead black men shot by police but it was really about calling folks nigg*s because we didn't come out for tidal. i mean really. lol
