Lavar Ball Brushes Off Shoe Critics

Earlier this week news leaked that Adidas, Nike, and Under Armor walked away from endorsement deal talks with NBA hopeful Lonzo Ball after his father Lavar insisted on a full-partnership with his Big Baller Brand instead of the usual licensing deal for rookies [click here if you missed that].

Yesterday Lavar Ball released his son's signature shoe with a $500 price point...

After backlash over the price Lavar Ball unapologetically Tweeted 'If you can't afford the ZOs You're NOT a big baller!

First of all no one has used the term "big baller" in Forever. 2nd Those shoes are ugly as hell!! 3rd....This negro is dumb as hell if he thinks people will opt to pay $500 for an off brand looking shoe with no performance tech, made of heavy ass leather, by a kid wit no NBA stats or rings... Nike's most expensive REGULAR release shoes top out at $250....and they have performance tech...

He's ruining his kids business dealings before they even begin, with his outlandish statements and actions.

Side Note: This Big Baller Brand shoe would actually go perfect with those new McDonald's uniforms. Or on some nurse or geriatric patient.

@Magnus you on a role today because that's the first thing I said. A rookie coming out with a 500 shoe??????

With that attitude coming out the gate this boy is not going to last long. If he was smart he woukd leave his meddling ass daddy alone and ruuuuuunnn and talk to Magic for some good sound advice .

Let's see what happens, when this kid faces an injury and the NBA says we don't need you anymore.

If this ain't some kneegrow ish I don't know what is!

"Outlandish" is a good adjective for this Big mouth. The man actually has a good idea about changing the endorsement game & owning your own shit BUT his approach needs to be more tactful & strategic. a $500 price is defeats the idea of trying to go against Nike and them....you gotta beat them at quality, design & price. Ask Stephan Marbury & Shaq

This kneegrow done lost his ever loving mind. Everybody and their mama is clowning him on Twitter. At some point this man needs to put whatever he's smoking down and get a grip on reality. Talk about living vicariously through your child....I'm done with this idiot.

i like his initiative.

he should coordinate with black gossip blogs and drop more bombshells tidbits to get his son's profile up on a "street level."
its all about recognition.

this man is out of his mind and is also a coon. Black people, don't give your coins to this man or his slack jawed kids.
He's a narcissist.

So instead give your money to Nike like they doing something for the ppl?? The gag is the shoes are selling. As another poster stated I like his initiative.

@11:11am I think the point is that this boy is a rookie charing 500 plus for kicks??? He doesn't have to sign with any of the big name brands, but I tell you what the big corporations sign with proven players. God forbid if this boy is unable to play tomorrow for whatever reason??? Do you think people are still gonna run out and buy those sneakers???

They are not for playing basketball since they have no support, that is for damn sure. Like another post said, he needs to be looking for quality at a reasonable price. But you can't talk to an old ass black man.

Takes one rapper to wear or mention in a song and everyone will be wearing them. For the fact they are so expensive. Chicago is about to be lit this summer with kids killing for theses shoes.

OK who thinks these shoes look good? Who thinks they look expensive and high quality?

I've seen better looking shoes on the rack at Walmart.
