Earlier today a home in Los Angeles belonging to Cleveland Cavaliers Lebron James was spray painted with the N-word.

From his statement: "No matter how much money you have, no matter how famous you are, no matter how many people admire you, being black in America is tough."

I'm riding with LeBron on this and I'm sure the LA posters really understand this. In a way I'm glad this happened. Brentwood has been a hotbed of racism since BEFORE the OJ trial. LAPD working that area allegedly hate Black folks moving in because they can't afford to live there. Who knows who did this, but is shows it can happen to any Black person in this country. #cowards

Whatever. This man is not trying to address racism. He probably hates that he was asked that question more than he hates that the home was vandalized. He knows he can always get another home.

Don't give him too much credit for being outspoken on social issues. He didn't say shit when he was asked about Tamir Rice, other than he didn't know much about it which I found hard to believe at the time because the story was all over the place and the incident happened only minutes from Akron, where he grew up, and minutes from the Cleveland arena that he plays basketball in. There were protests and a social media campaign asking him to not play in the championship series in solidarity with the protestors for justice for Tamir Rice and he dismissed all of it.

LeBron is not "woke", as some people might say. Don't confuse this rich and famous cornball athlete with members of any so-called conscious community or organization. He isn't and is not trying to be.

when u say, "all lives matter" but get reminded that u are what u are, a black man in a stolen country.

But 8:06 you do realize that this happening "makes racism real" to many who who denying it or delusional for years and years. I get what you're saying but this is not the time for division among Black people when white supremacists are showing a united front. Please chill and look at the bigger picture. I get what you're saying but this is not the time for it. Unless you're just trolling, then stop.

At 806 his job is to play basketball, he is not obligated to miss work because of protests. What other athlete missed games because of Tamir??

Tiger's bullsh*t and now this......What a week we're having....

Uh, 8:50 Tiger's issues are not our concern. He's caublasian and would sell us out in a heartbeat. Many athletes of color might/would but we KNOW they could burn an effigy of Tiger in his front yard and he'd still be self-hating.

@8:06 PM What exactly do you want LeBron to say about racism? If MLK and Malcolm x didn't change the mindset of racists back in the 60s, what makes you think LeBron can? Racists are going to be racists until they decide to change.

Regarding the Tamire Rice shooting and protests, do you honestly think he was wrong for not playing in the championship game? Did you go to work that day?

LeBron can get another home. It's not like this has happened to every home he's ever lived in. If this happened to my home no one would be blogging about it or reporting on it or asking me some dumb ass questions at some press conference, so why should I care that it happened to him? Should I be concerned that I might be next? If I am RWS will be the first to know.

@ 8:55 Caublasian - so if one is culturally diverse, they can only identify with being black - um-m-m sounds racist to me.

Black people are, have always been, and always will be divided. That's the nature of a colonized people. Someone please tell me when there was ever unity among Black people? A handful here and there, maybe, but other than that there never has been and never will be Unity among Black people.

LeBron can go unite with Tiger (the Black part of Tiger). They have more in common with each other than they ever will with me and majority of the people I will ever know.

There's an embittered troll haunting this thread. Opinions are one thing, but I smell someone trying to sew seeds of anger and discord and I just can't today.

10:17 yes! there is an agenda being forced on us on here now. Snitch needs to nip that in the butt. We don't gossip or make fun, now we fight or force agendas down people throats instead of gossiping about folks like they do at church. Shit s getting ridiculous.

This strange occurrence has happened to a couple of professional athletes. I have a few questions:
-How do these people know where athletes live
-Aren't these gated communities? If so, there should be private security.
-Speaking of security, why is it none of these people have surveillance cameras setup?
Jim Brown, OJ, or Muhammad Ali didn't go through this and they lived in regular neighborhoods.
I'm not saying this isn't an act of racism, I'm just highly suspicious because the media has been trying to rile us up for awhile.

No trolling here. I don't need a celebrity related experience or incident to confirm the fact that racism exists. There are far more heinous examples of racist acts than a spray painted gate around a home, which has since been cleaned up.

Without video footage who knows who did it and/or why? It could be someone that looks like LeBron trying to get people stirred and gain media attention. Black people have been known to commit such acts as burn down Black churches and scrawl racist graffiti on whatever medium and spew racist hate toward other Black people on the Internet.

After slavery and the civil rights movement I find it appalling that someone would suggest that this occurrence makes racism real.
