Writings On the Wall for BET CEO Debra Lee

Last month there were rumors BET CEO Debra Lee was on her way out at the network [click here if you missed that].

Now there are whispers that her exit may be closer than previously thought...

Insiders tell Page Six
“Tons of people from Viacom were saying that her days are numbered.”
“She’s been running the place, and it’s struggling . . . There are so many layers of internal politics . . . It takes 20 calls to get through one insignificant thing.”
“I hear it’s about to go down, and it’s her last BET Awards . . . Morale is bad. She moved to LA, and I believe she’s trying to get into one of the studios.”

Who cares? Out with the old, in with the new. Never liked her grating ass voice anyways.

Now maybe we'll see quality Black movies instead of the same 5 worn out "classics" and the 2 new "straight to DVD" ones they add each yr. to try to throw us off.

Not surprised. BET's programming has sucked for a while now. Just think all of these talented black writers & directors had to go to Netflix to get their work out.
Debra & Steven got complacent & obviously didn't have a strong enough team around them to create fresh and unique programming. Anytime you have to make multiple calls to get an easy answer is ridiculous. They got jaded with power.
Last. It's, I watched the BET Awards on MTV in my hotel riom

9:47 those are great points. Elephant in the room though: Debra and Steven are/were figureheads. Look at the rest of Viacom's programming. It's almost all cooning and buffooning on VH1.

It's time for Black folks to vote with their wallets (as you mentioned re: Netflix.) I'm happier with Roku, Netflix, Firestick, and targeted content. F*ck Viacom.
