I have been an investor in the company (Mannkind) that makes the diabetic drug dame is promoting (Afrezza) for almost 5 years. It makes a great deal of sense to have an African American person promoting this drug and the technology that delivers it. The company has been through hell and high water to get their main product into the commercial pipeline. Educating doctors, patients and insurance providers, and not to mention taking on the majors with a global footprint in the diabetes market place. Google the founder Alfred Mann and his medical contributions to society before he passed last year. Meanwhile, Dame stands to make a great deal of money by endorsing this product if it ever takes off. Opportunistic? Sure. However, by all accounts from early adopters, clinical trials, FDA approval, etc., the product is supposedly best in class as an inhalable solution to controlling diabetes versus needles. Dame is also a daily user of Afrezza and can endorse based on his personal experience. There's even chatter about Google or Apple's medical division buying out Mannkind. What's also interesting about this story is the new CEO, Michael Castagna, is a relatively young cat at the helm of a breakthrough drug and technology delivery method. He and Dame have become friends and hang out together. Dame could be at the right place at the right time. And not only pocket a great deal of money, but also introduce the black community to a new and more effective means of controlling an epidemic that kills far too many. And just maybe I'll eventually recoup some of my losses!

Just cut the damn carbs, dummies. Carbs are not a necessary nutrient, they're a tool to induce diabetes.
