Dr. Dre Opens Up About Beating Dee Barnes

Two years ago the hip hop community was forced to revisit female journalist Dee Barnes' brutal assault at the hands of Dr. Dre after it was glaringly omitted from the N.W.A. biopic 'Straight Outta Compton [click here if you missed that].'

Dre opens up about the incident in his new documentary 'The Defiant Ones...'

@1:04 Shit if you were making your life story on big screen, would you?!

I troll it like I see it. said...

Fuck this violent closeted pos, he's a woman and man beater, beats both his wife and male side piece, tell the real story behind your son's mysterious "death" from Heroin and Morphine overdose. Both him and John Travolta need to be strapped in an electric chair with the lever pulled, behind their son's "mysterious deaths"

Dre looked bad for business and this billionaire serial abuser label he got from it hurt his pockets and his usually low key shady rep was exposed. So now he wants to clarify shit. Nigga run along and be glad you not on tour like you know who.

Apple very very very queitly dismissed Dre, after they forced him to apologize. They dropped every project he was working on for them.He embarrased them big time.

These kind of ninjas move in the dark, because they know that they're doing will cost them their livelihood.

He's still the same broken batterer he was in 1992. Better ask a therapist (who in general hate to treat DV perps), he's only managing behavior- it hasnt changed.

They're incurable.

wow, didn't know apple kicked his azz to the curb. that's what he gets. and he was STILL talking mess when Michel'le came out with her film which was surprisingly very good for a tv movie. probably because she was honest. hell, she admitted she went with suge to keep a roof over her head. dr. dre still trying to excuse his behavior. the fact of the matter is this fool is crazy. how in the world your going to beat down the person doing the interview (just asking questions) and not the person who actually dissed you? it was ice cube who dragged him the interview not Barnes. yet not only doesn't attack him him and cube remained the best of friends. something is sick about this guy.

1:36 - I heard that too and am trying to find that Bloomberg article from 4 months ago about Apple "going in a different direction" away from Dre's projects. There are no lies told on this thread.

And Dre will never be in good again and allegedly Iovine only takes his calls via his personal assistant now and Dre can't find get his usual Malibu rental/Had to rent a few streets away from the beach this summer. It must be hard that the white people he wanted to please and be down with now won't return his phone calls and he allegedly can't get an 8pm reservation and Bui or Nobu anymore.

I would put it in my bio pic if it was public knowledge. In other words, if there was denying it and/or there was proof it happened, might as well make an honest pic.

So his Vital Signs is not coming out?

Not defending or justifying in any way but as as far including it in the movie, why would he? It had little legal impact on his life, it wasn't some career defining moment in his life. Now he coulda used the incident in the movie to better illustrate how fucked up he was. There was no internet back then so most people forgot about it until Em referenced the attack on his first album...now if he was totally dodging the incident, I would have a problem but him not included it in the movie that he co-directed, I just dont see why he would

I found this "confession" insincere. He seemed to force emphasize on the slang/cuss words to make them sound bigger and more powerful hoping that gives them more meaning and validation.
If this is repentance it would require him to admit in sincerity to all the woman he hit, tell of his journey in care/therapy to learn what he did, why he did it and to empathize with his victims.

he makes it seem like it was just a one time incident when he was beating michel'le ass around the clock on a daily basis

Thanks to all the posters who saw through this. It was insincere and inorganic and did not address the alleged beatings of Michell'e and alleged groupies over the years. As said above, this was a ploy to get back into the good graces of Apple and it's not going to fly. The damage is already done.

Hurt his pockets? I'm hearing a lot of spiteful black woman crap. He didn't have to have her on the docu you know? He confronted the issue head on. For all of you naggy hefers to overlook and still talk out the side of your neck, is expected. He was wrong. And Dee Barnes got black balled. Which is fuxed up. You took her career and passion away. She prob became an abuser because of it. Wether it be drugs or alcohol or anger.. 10 million wasn't enough. But making it public does help some. It took a while. But our society is more advance to talk more openly about domestic violence.

@10:51 Enough DRE, Your embarassing ya self.

Here is an idea, try really seeking help, a real transformation. Not lip service, and the same old arrogance...like this comment (he didnt have to include her in the documentary)

Im telling you they are gonna open the flood gates on you, and all the abusive things you have done. Hit that coke line and fade to black. Stay out of the media. Ask Cosby.

Dee Barnes did not get 10 million from Dre. That's what she asked for but she didn't even get 1 million because his attorneys dragged the case out to the point where she just gave up.

If he just dealt with it like a man back then it would not haunt him now.
