Girls Trip Cleans Up at the Box Office

Girls Trip starring Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Queen Latifah and Tiffany Haddish pulls big numbers in its first week...

Girls Trip came in second place at the box-office on its debut weekend with $30 million which is not bad considering its $19 million budget.

Dunkirk came in at no.1 with $50 million while Rihanna's new movie Valerian limped in at no.5 with $17 million despite its $209 million budget.

Fun Fact: Dunkirk cost $150 million to make and was shown in 1,129 more theaters than Girls Trip.

Good for them! A friend of mine saw the movie with her girlfriends and she said the movie was very good. I guess i shouldn't be surpised because Malcolm Lee, the director of the Best Man movies, one of my favorites, was part of this project.

Surpeise this had some success.

Kudos! I thought it wouldn't do well but that's my bad for underestimating them. Good for Jada, Queen and the crew. I stand corrected.

I thought it looked corny but they say it's funny so i'll go see this and Dunkirk.

@ 8:44 Yeah, me too.

Based on previews, i wasn't interested.
Just didn't look like my kind of movie.
Only because I don't do girl trips or hang out with wild extroverts for fun.

Not knocking those who do tho.

BUT I didn't know Malcolm Lee was involved.

Fun Fact Also:

Valerian is NOT Rihanna's movie. It's Luc Besson's (The Fifth Element) movie.

Congrats to Girl's Trip. I plan to see it.

I wasn't planning on seeing it but I went opening night. It was sold out. It is hilarious. I laughed from the beginning to the end.

I'm not the movie goer and I thought it was going to be corny, but I was so wrong. The entire movie, you laughed from beginning to end, everyone's character went well together. Even the men who made small appearances were great too. I will go see it again. Whomever the stylists were, kudos for not using those cheap hair depot wigs like LAHH series.

Surprising since Jada talked about everything EXCEPT the movie during her press interviews. I always heard that Regina was a bitch and she confirmed when she was on the breakfast club. She has a very nasty demeanor and Angela talked more about the movie more than she did. It seemed as if they felt it was gonna flop so they didn't give the press tour their all.
Also bringing up Tiffany seems to piss the others off as if they weren't once up and coming and trying to get put on.

Regina probably acted that way because Angela Yee tried to threw some shade. Angela did that to Coko from SWV. Coko checked and bodied Angela every time Angela tried it.

Movie was EXCELLENT, and I typically don't do comedies.

@6:57 you talking about that oh you and Sanaa going to take a girl's trip? I caught that too but regina was being a bitch before that especially when charlamange said Tiffany is great and funny. She talked more about her dog than the movie.
Angela is a shit starter but looks like she cant fight worth a damn. When Joseline was on she low key threw it out there see you on love and hip hop Miami and stupid ass Jose was like yes and thank you. Proving all this Joseline quit shit was a ploy with her and Mona to get ratingsfor the new show. Angela is a mess and low key shit starter. Regina needs to remember her come up days saying Cyndi the tv is leaking.

GIRLS TRIP was excellent. If you haven't seen it yet, go check it out. I haven't seen any interviews mentioned where the co-stars were shady, but I can see how that would happen. Tiffany did an excellent job in her debut film role.

You fake bitches are something else! Had this movie flopped all of you would have nothing but negative comments. But since this all black ensemble did very well, you're surprised.

I really have no interest in seeing some sex crazed, big dick hunting, black females spitting out one stereotypical joke after another.

I won't be going to see it because I would have preferred ALL the actresses be Tiffany Haddish's age or YOUNGER. I am tired of seeing the same 10-20 Black actors and actresses in EVERY film. Jada Pinkett and Queen Latifah need to be ashamed for accepting the roles. Give some young blood a chance. I'm not surprised by what @4:07 stated. They get annoyed when younger actresses are brought up because they want to keep hogging up all the damn roles. Sorry, not sorry.

Side-note: Regina Hall still looks like she's in her 30s so she's the only one I'd let slide for this role....the rest of them....nahhhh
