With comments like that no wonder racism will never ever truly ever go away... thanks

You know? It's some shit you might think, but don't say, know what I mean? We all know we're rooting for our people, but sometimes, you can finesse it a certain way. I get Issa's appeal, but there's something about her that's kinda 'off' to me. What is it?

I ain't t mad at her.we all think it. Go on and say it. Let whitey feel uncomfortable.
Hell I root for all the black people on The Price is Right, FeR Factor, Amazing Race, Survivor, etc.

8:44 imo she truly is an "awkward black girl" i get her...that's something i would say and do. P.s. all people involved in "the arts" are off. It just is what it is.

@ 8:51 Yes indeed.
I'm an artist/ designer/writer and my type are different. We see the world in a different way. It goes with the talent Good has blessed us with. Our creative juices are constantly flowing. We feel the need to express ourselves and we have no fucks to give about anyone who doesn't like us or our opinions.

Me, too, Issa. Love her.
They root for their own (out loud sometimes, too!), so why can't we root for ours???
Racism is ingrained in this country. And the PTB are perfectly fine with it. It won't be going away in our lifetime. Stop the shenanigans....

It's refreshing to see support of each other (Black entertainners) versus the usual "beefs" Hell I only watched the black people myself. Everytime one of us took the stage it had my attention, once they were done I went on to take a bathroom break, folded clothes and some other chores.

8:35 NOPE, IT'S BITCH ASS COONS LIKE YOU THAT MAKE RACISTS FEEL THEIR ASS IS RIGHT TO TO CALL US RACISTS WHEN ALL WE ARE DOING IS SHOWING EACH OTHER LOVE AND SUPPORT.

IF WE WERE TREATED EQUALLY, WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO CELEBRATE SO EXTRA WE WHEN FINALLY SEE ONE ANOTHER HAVING A SEAT AT THE FUCKING TABLE.

Thank you.
I suspect 8:35 is a pale face troll.

love it! honesty is always refreshing in fake hollyweird.

8:59am @R in NYC...Absolutely and well said!...I'm a visual artist myself..We aren't off though...We're present and antennas are always up...We see beauty everywhere and in (almost) everyone....
....besides....Doesn't black folk ALWAYS root for other black folk in any predominately white award show anyway???Issa's answer is what we've BEEN thinking....

Chrissy Snow said...

We all do that but Issa should have kept that comment to herself.

love Issa, her awkwardness and her real talk! The show is boring, I can't imagine being there and pretending to be engaged the whole time. And I read the blogs to see what the black folks were wearing and pay attention when we are on screen.
take your white ass somewhere else 8:35

I proud of her being a black woman with her kind of success but something about this chick irks me.

11:16 AM, I agree with you 100%. It is a matter of keeping it real and speaking her true thoughts...
Most of us quietly have those same feelings...

I saw nothing wrong with what she said. She spoke the truth. Nothing about Issa is off...in her show this is two everyday round away type of chicks that have real life issues. Men, Sex, Moving, Work, Ex's..if you can't relate to this shit....go back to watching fantasy G.O.T (Games of Thrones) so your able to fucking relate to non-real shit.

What Issa Rae she said was not racist it was Pro Black. What is wrong with a Black person rooting for other Black people to achieve and win in their nominated category at an awards show?

She didn't say she didn't want any white people (or others) to win any awards.

This is the same type of spin RepubliKKKans and White Supremacists try to adhere to Black Lives Matter.

Would u b ok if a white emmy nominee used the same words to express that thought? Not what they think..but actually saying that at an awards ceremony?

Issa just keep that thang 100 % OOYEAH

who cares 3:04? this is about us. the point is that if a white person is rooting for everyone white, they will always have a winner because white people predominantly are nominated and win. i wouldn't have a problem with say, dame judi dench saying she is rooting for all the brits who are nominated, or nicole kidman saying, she wants her fellow aussies to win.

Alright, Issa..... I was rooting for us too, but don't give these folks the rope to hang you with. Sheesh!

What I'm hearing is Black people be quiet...know your place...don't rock the boat...don't get the white people upset. You know the typical stuff.

Chrissy Snow said...

The funny thing is what she said won't upset most White people because they expect to hear simple remarks like this from us.
There is a way to express support for Black power without coming across as an unsophisticated child. This keeping it real mess doesn't fly in the real world.

In the real world you mean the white world. Keep on cooning Chrissy Snow from Three's Company I get the play on the name. How sophisticated is that. People like you need to choke on a HIV dick and die out.

Anonymous said...

^^^ But you expect someone to take your opinion seriously with that very unsophisticated clap back? You must be a child. Unfortunately, success is still entwined with this white run world. Issa may get away with being blunt, but that won't work for the average black person.

Chrissy Snow said...

LOL @8:34 What sane person wishes something like that on another person just for having an opinion?
I wish you well in all your future endeavors because with that mindset you are going to need it.

Black people mad because a truly black sister with pride spoke her truth.

Nothing new about that...
