Serena Williams Pens Open Letter to Her Mother

I've been called man because I appeared outwardly strong. It has been said that that I use drugs (No, I have always had far too much integrity to behave dishonestly in order to gain an advantage). It has been said I don't belong in Women's sports -- that I belong in Men's -- because I look stronger than many other women do. (No, I just work hard and I was born with this badass body and proud of it).
But mom, I'm not sure how you did not go off on every single reporter, person, announcer and quite frankly, hater, who was too ignorant to understand the power of a black woman.
I am proud we were able to show them what some women look like. We don't all look the same. We are curvy, strong, muscular, tall, small, just to name a few, and all the same: we are women and proud!
You are so classy, I only wish I could take your lead. I am trying, though, and God is not done with me yet. I have a LONG way to go, but thank you.
Thank you for being the role model I needed to endure all the hardships that I now regard as a challenges--ones that I enjoy. I hope to teach my baby Alexis Olympia the same, and have the same fortitude you have had.
Promise me, Mom, that you will continue to help. I'm not sure if I am as meek and strong as you are yet. I hope to get there one day. I love you dearly.

I saw Serena in person and I was shocked because she's actally pretty and I couldn't stop stearing. She just doesn't take good pictures. Also, I always thought Tyson Beckford was a hottie and when I saw him in person that was one ugly man. So he takes excellent pictures but he is not attractive in person.

Beautiful letter. And beautiful, powerful first, second and third generation. I want to see Serena on the cover of a sports magazine with her mom, sister and baby Alexis in her little tennis outfit. Serena don't have to be meek to hating ass folks. A Queen who knows she is a Queen bows to none, or allow court jesters to make her feel insecure. Walk proudly in your Queendom. The rest can kiss the ring bitches!!!

Lol @ 10:42 nope black used to didn't crack. Women 40+ and older own that statement. These chicks under 40 walking around worn, out of a shape, and tore down due to bad diet, no physical activity, and all those party drugs. I still believe black women can have the best bodies in the world nowadays if they lived like the black women did in earlier generations. Hell these broads eat out everyday cause they cant fuckin' cook!!! Sorry Im sad about it but working at a HBCU and seeing how women working out here in there 40s and 50s look better than girls 18-24 thats SUPPOSED to be in the prime shape of their lives is sad as fuck
