Billboard Confirms Cardi B Bodak Yellow Writing Credits

Yesterday after the Grammy nominations were released fans pointed out neither Cardi B's real name, Belcalis Almanzar, nor her alias were listed in the writing credits for Bodak Yellow.

But they were, though...

From Billboard,
A rep for the Grammys told Billboard that Cardi is credited as a songwriter, just under a different name: Washpoppin. The name doubles as the title of her song "Wash Poppin" from her 2016 mixtape Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1.
The full credits for "Bodak Yellow" are: Washpoppin (Cardi B); Dieuson Octave (Kodak Black); Klenord Raphael; Shaftizm; Jordan Thorpe; and J White.

Back in the day rappers could freestyle on a track and get credit. NO ONE is writing their own raps anymore. 10 names on a rap track with one person rapping?

These people can't complete a sentence without the support of multiple people.

@12:39's response just enlightened me on why rap music sounds the way it does today. Besides them saying "yes" to drugs, these yougins don't know grammar, punctuation, nouns, verbs, sentence structure...this shyt is a completely different language.

What does Bodack Yellow mean anyway? Does anyone know?

You need THAT many ppl to highlight how illiterate you sound???

@2:16 Prissa O - "Bodack Yellow" basically means: "This is the end of music as we know it."

"Wash Popping" is the name of the "ghost writer" not her! She's too dumb and stupid to write anything herself. if she was smart she wouldn't be a stripper or a piece of ghetto trash on tv who was given the job to be a rapper to take out nicki minaj. Any "real" writer on writing credits would use their real name. why would you NOT use your real name???

Usually writing credits include the people who wrote the music for the songs too and not just the lyrics. That's why when you see some songs/raps that you know only the artist wrote, there might be other names attached. Most people don't compose/write their own music, unless they're musicians. A lot of people sample music and sometimes pieces of more than one song and they actually have to credit all of them. That could be why you see so many names listed under the song's credits. Bodak Yellow is actually a play on Kodak Black's name, since she used his record. That's why he's listed. She took his song, flipped and remixed it, added lyrics and made it her own. She said that since her name starts with a B she changed it to Bodak. And since she's light skin, or yellow as she refers to herself, that's where the Yellow came from.

Y'all forgetting that she sampled the song so the original writers have to get their credit as well.
