R.I.P. Hugh Masekela


South African jazz legend Hugh Masekela has died at age 78...

Hugh Masekela was the shit. His was the trumpet heard around the world when this record hit. The beauty is that even as an older man he could still play his horn.

I love artists who play instruments. Something so organic so spiritual about this connection between artist and audience that lasts a lifetime and beyond.

Thanks for the acknowledgment Snitch.

His music is timeless. One of my favorites is live version of Stimela. A deep song about the black the train that transported black men in to the coal mines during Apartheid.
