Research the Hawaiian DNA - bit of Black, Polynesian, Japanese, Anglo et al

There are bigger issues. Whatever happened to the Black Lives Matter thing? Oh.. I forgot. Black Lives Matter is no longer "trending" on twitter. But THIS is. I understand now.

In the words of Little Richard...”SHUT UP!”

Just an observation said...

Black Lives only matters when the media is around, unfortunately.

Bruno Mars is talented and puts in a hell of a lot of work.

Keep trying, haters.

I like Bruno. I mean, If I wanted to sing country, wear a cow boy hat and some chaps... I should be able to. Aaron McGruder made black anime, the hood went through our Chinese slipper phase. There's a lot more stuff we do like that as well. IDK, I think Bruno's post is in support of the conversation, because black culture wants to prevent somebody else from taking ownership of stuff they've created. IE Rock and Roll and we have reason to because it has been done before. But when it comes to Bruno Mars, I think he has done it all. He came out pop. He's done 1950's pop sounding music, Locked out of heaven was rock and roll, now he's in this phase. He always lets people know where he got it from. He's constantly calling out black artists he's inspired from. I don't think there's a problem. He used to dress up as Elvis for goodness sake. He seems like a chameleon to me. It’s like everyone in America is trying to tell everybody else what to be and how to be it. If Bruno is wearing black face, stealing parts of the ‘I have a Dream’ speech in his lyrics and claiming it as he’s own, or actually appropriating black culture...then I'll have a problem. For now I don’t care about him rocking an Afro and dressing up like Easy E... singing to funk music. He reminds me of a wedding singer honestly. I like it and people like it. He sounds good and can actually play instruments. I real musician.

But you listen to rap artists talk about phucking their countless hoes, their gold teeth and outrageously priced cars that you will never even see in real life. Okay...

Culture Appropriation is a made up thing for ppl to have something to complain about. America is the most diverse place in the world everyone would be culture appropriating then. America is "culture appropriation". If you're someone who wants to complain about culture appropriation then move somewhere where there's only 1 type of culture to be around so that your feelings aren't hurt. This is a non issue. Sick of it.

Anonymous said...

Oh please...Bruno is better than these niggas. Keep making that money off these dumb niggas Bruno. Show them what real music is.

Anonymous said...

That shit Bruno puts out ain't funk and it sure ain't soul so he can try but I'm literally not buying it. The boy CAN sing though.

Anonymous said...

Everyone wants to be Black until its time to be Black .

Anonymous said...

11:18 Sick of it? I'm sick of your kind coming on black sites to provoke.
Any fool can see it's no coincidence the most successful artists in popular music today are profiteering off BLACK music and just happen to be non-black. The black faces replaced with more paler ones imitating their sound and style completely whilst revered by so-called journalists and music impresarios who claim they do it best.
If music is all encompassing, regardless of culture then why doesn't he perform music from his own cultural background? Why do they all follow the same tired formula to achieve success and riches.

Should all Opera singers be White? No

Anonymous said...

How many current black country music superstars can anyone think of?
Any huge death metal groups that are black?
How many blacks making a fortune singing latin music?
How many blacks winning latin music awards?
I'll wait

Anonymous said...

So was Michael Jackson culture appropriating since he was the king of pop and pop is considered "white music? Or is that justified? @204 So what? You go into the kind of music that you prefer based on your talent and sound. Blacks could get into all of that if they wanted.

Anonymous said...

@1239 Bruno has done that. He also songs in Spanish so what's your point?

Anonymous said...

Yttrolls stop begging .
Black people need to stop being the most accepting and forgiving race of people .
Its has not got us anywhere .

Bruno Mars is an extremely talented young man, and last time I checked he's not white that man looks nothing Caucasian to me. There are far more pressing issues for Nubians in this country and elsewhere to focus on. The reality is Bruno was not a talented young man, I could see this dragging, but I'm going to need some of my people to get a fucking life.

Anonymous said...

It is safe for me to say that Black Americans have collectively become pathetic and weak. We used to focus more on issues like education, self-sufficiency, business, family, and culture. Now we are back to begging massa for scraps.

Anonymous said...

2:10 Are his biggest hits in Spanish? NO!
That's my point

Anonymous said...

@ 2:09 Michael Jackson was appropriating anything in music because he was original you twat. That's absolute bullshit that blacks can easily become country music, death metal and latin music megastars.
You're not even black yet you think you're expert on black culture and history. You have no knowledge whatsoever of black history - in fact you're a denier of history.
Go back to your kin over at stormfront, you're not wanted here.

Anonymous said...

^^ *wasn't appropriating anything*

Bruno is a good artist. The only issue I had with Mars was when he won for 24K Magic at the Grammys he gave numerous old school artists props but the one he borrowed the most from.
Roger Troutman.

24K Magic took the Talk Box, the beat from “More Bounce To The Ounce”.

Love the multi-talented Bruno Mars. He is refreshing after the nasty, evil music of late.

Anonymous said...

Well, there are a bunch of bulls in the pasture screaming cultural appropriation for the bull ring in her nose. Lol. She needs to get a life and find more meaningful things to do. If you are so into Black folks then sign up to build homes for habitat for humanity, deliver wheels on wheels to elderly black seniors, better yet find some elderly black widows to cook and clean for who are unable to do it themselves, tutor black kids after school, or join big brother big sister programs. This faux blackness is garbage because all they do is run their damn mouths. Don't talk about it, be about it. Who cares about a damn song or braids? Humans have transformed into many things over the years. She has nothing better to do than run her mouth. Idiot.

Anonymous said...

Black people defend Bruno Mars more than they do any other black artists who ain't Beyonce, Rihanna or JayZ. Black go too far defending this ugly Hawaiian midget. And people wonder why I don't like hanging with other black folks half the time.

Black people have become crybabies. Obama was in office and niggas felt the fight was over. Black culture used to be about something. Black American culture has officially gone down the drain.

Anonymous said...

@9:43 you are correct about Hawaiian DNA....do a lil research before jumping on nonsensical bullshit

Anonymous said...

@5:31 give the alcohol a rest, we don't do incoherent psychobabble here.
Perhaps when you're in a more sober state of mind you could stick to the topic at hand.

Anonymous said...

6:26 just because you are too damn dumb to comprehend and read beyond a paragrah doesn't make it "psycho babble." Futhermore, yotu obviously don't know the definition of the term because you used it inappropriately, dumb @ss. Black folks who are full of hatred and venom are no different than the racist White folks we marched against in the 19 50's and 60's. If you like total Blackness so much then you take your mixed black american @ss to the Congo and discover how much they hate your guts. Love is all there is, and without it you are Lost. Black folks yap too damn much but never BUILD. You young dummies want to talk about braids because you are too lazy and trifling to talk about BUILDING. You are all TALK. Now, watch you smile so a white man can give you a job. Lol. You better smile and then sit around a table and talk spit while he isn't within ear shot. Lol.

Anonymous said...

I don't like Bruno's music. So fuck him and his music.

Anonymous said...

6:26pm You are so right. 5:31pm is not only full of alcohol that person is full of shit.

Anonymous said...

@6:53 You're not exactly in any position to be calling anyone dumb when you haven't even grasped the basics of sentence structure.
Long, rambling, nonsensical passages of text with no paragraphs and unable to stay on topic. That seems to be too much to ask of an imbecile like yourself.

You've once again gone off on a tangent, away from the subject with some pathetic monologue that reads like it was written by a 12 year old.

Attitudes such as yours are part of the problem, you want inclusiveness - other groups don't and fair much better.
Coons like yourself should be rounded up and dumped in the ocean.

Anonymous said...

@7:16 Thank you! I'm embarrassed for them, they're all over the place.

Anonymous said...

I rather listen to Bruno then Jacquees

Anonymous said...

I am black; need to say this before I go on!!!!!

Black and White people you are not the only beings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had to get that one off my chest!!!!!!

African Americans and music has always been right; period...... All cultures have loved our music, copied, idolized, and the list goes on.
It's clear that Bruno has had a love for our music since he was a little boy; that child new nothing about anything other than it sounds good and he loves it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bruno thank you for your music; I love it!!!!!!
It reminds me of happier days and frankly when music was good!!! Our black artist music sucks period!!!!! Love you Bruno and why this even came up; proably someone with too much time on their hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love you Bruno and you deserved EVERY Grammy you recieved; no on else deserved those awards; the Academy finally got it right!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Look at the little whiny morons getting mad because I spoke the truth about them sitting around complaining about NOTHING. Lol. Bruno is not "appropriating" anything, he's appreciating music, and sharing his gift. You all are PITIFUL. I know your type, hateful and mad because you are butt UGLY. He came in and did it better and all you have are mumble rappers. Lol. Truth hurts, but Black folks have to stop running off at the mouth because no one feels sorry for you anymore. There are tons of foreigners who could care less about your pity party.

Anonymous said...

There are also a ton of foreigners who will get sent back to wherever tf they came from and nobody cares about those pity parties eithier.

Anonymous said...

@1208 I co-sign. And in regards to someone earlier. Bruno is Filipino and Puerto Rican not actually "native hawaiian" as in Polynesian or Samoain. He's only Hawaiian cuz he was born and raised there but not by ethnicity.

Anonymous said...

^
I co_sign my own shit. Fixed that for you.

I love Bruno Mars and accept him 100%. He makes great music that moves you to dance and have a good time. This man is smooth and appreciates the arts. You rarely see a whole band getting into the groove with the lead. His band mates are brothers who are making history unlike the crabs in a barrel who just sits around complaining. Most niggas complaining can't even two step anymore let alone running man. Hypertension, high cholesterol, smoking blunts all day not being active. Stomach looking like all they do is lay around. Smelling like frankincense and ain't washed your ass! Talking bout you don't eat pork but breath smelling like 10 years of dead chickens in between your teeths. Oh, shut up! The elevated brother can kiss my ass! Real talk.

Black folks can't have it both ways. You can't be upset when whites/non Blacks are placed over Black folks in music, television, etc., while praising and upholding non Black people in Black spaces. Keep it up and the next queen of soul with be an Asian or some shit. What Bruno Mars doing is generic r&b replace him with a Black male singer, they probably would've won the r&b spots, there is no way in the world they would've won the majority categories with that same music, because it would be seen as "regular" Black folks music, put in a non Black suddenly "24K magic." Just because Mars is a person of color doesn't mean he feels any obligation to the black community, what for. he ain't black! lol. like i said keep it up with defending him. there's been an agenda to wipe up blacks from r&b. the ed sheerans, adeles, justins, and bruno are now seen as r&b artists. while folks like anthony hamilton, leela james, etc. struggle

Anonymous said...

also, i'm surprised white folks defending him. they have a vested interest in anti-blackness, and mars is their key to this now regarding the music sphere. they know it's harder for black folks to criticize other people of color. as the young lady in the video stated, we them as allies. but other people of color feel nothing more for black people than white people do. i guess black folks gonna have to learn the hard way. you see that latina girl at the grammys talking about latinas built america totally ignoraing the blood sweet and tears of black folks. GTFOH

Anonymous said...

*i'm NOT surprised

Well he'll have some cute kids. They had to have someone close enough (GED) Good Enough Dammit. LOL
