Kevin Hart Defends Starbucks After Racial Incident

Comedian Kevin Hart shuts down calls for a Starbucks boycott after two Black men are arrested for trespassing while waiting for a friend at a Starbucks in Philadelphia...

It all started after video went viral of two Black men being arrested while waiting for a friend at Starbucks after managers called the police.

I agree, this was one individual problem. The manager at this Starbucks is no longer at this Startbucks. The news here in PHILLY did not say the person was fired just no longer at this location. I have been in a lot of Starbucks in my travel and have never encountered any form of racial profiling. I have also stopped in just to use the bathroom because it was the closet place to where I was at the time. No issues.I do think the manager actions were racial and out of a fear of two black men in sweats and one had on a hoodie. SMDH

The manager should have been fired instead of moved.
Kevin didn't say anything wrong but Starbucks doesn't need his damn support. How about commending those young men for remaining calm during a tense and embarrassing situation.

*rolls eyes*Thinking like a CEO- Boy if you don't sit your little behind down. Doesn't he have a marriage to repair?

Uncle Tom was a righteous man! Sambo was the sellout.

Kevin looks like a closet drunk.

Kevin's right. You don't judge the entire organization by the act of 1 employee.

8:34 I agree that people have the right to choose to boycott. However, Starbucks is a large, non-franchise corporation who seem to have a nationwide systemic issue regarding Customer service in general and in interactions with people of color specifically.

See all the stories that are coming out online. I stopped dealing with them when why uncle (a State police officer not in uniform) was treated poorly in a Baltimore store.

At the end of day, Kevin Hart is a controlled coon puppet who enjoys currying favor with white folks and his white handlers. There was no reason for him to chime in to defend a multi-billion dollar company. But he has a 1st Amendment right to do so.

Please remember that these men could have been murdered because of this issue. Philadelphia has always been a hotbed of police excessive force and while direct litigation is probably necessary, a boycott to show that treating Black people differently than white patrons in their stores might also be productive.

Kevin must think his cheating on his pregnant sidepiece must have died down. He needs to mind his own fucking business. This could have easily been his little ass if he wasn't a sell out coon. Made millions off a stand up talking about his family then leaves his family.

I have seen white people make Starbucks their kiving room. Computer, tie off phone charging etc. Fuck the manager Starbucks needs to feel the pressure so not just anyone gets hired anywhere.

They were in the news not too long ago for writing funny shit on people's cups when they were just supposed to write their name.

So him saying this means its okay what h&m did, what barney's did and all the others?

If he doesn't sit his little oh no oh no ass down and raise that Japanese baby.....

did they fire the staff at that starbucks ? no .... so they didnt solve that problem. if you think this was the first time they did this is crazy, they did it with the right people around this time. i say boycott them so it wont happen again, that their will be immediate action taken. i will take kevin opinion with a grain of salt because we all know his judgement can be off at times. #drunkatsuperbowl #upinhoesfaces #cheatingonpregnamtwife

Oprah has a partnership deal with Starbucks. I wonder if she'll pull out or just keep quiet.

8:54AM I agree Uncle Tom was looking out for the best interest of plantation/company not the Masta/CEO.

This has happened twice, that I know of, once to a police officer in Philly and a pregnant woman in Phoenix and both made public complaints. Starbucks bathroom code is on the coffee receipt. The issue would be solved if they would put a sign on the door stating it’s not for public use, but it’s a slippery slope because they’d rather not alienate “potential” customers. The manager overreacted period!

9:41 thank you for the response and thanks to Snitch for posting the story.

I think some people of color find ways to explain away alleged racial prejudiced behavior because it seems pervasive and we sometimes feel helpless. Litigation is the only think corporations understand and I hope the young men pursue that.

And 9:54 is correct. Think about all the white folks that sit in Starbucks for hours on end with no police called. These men were meeting their business associate (like people do all the time.) They asked to use the bathroom and rebuffed. Sat down to wait and were told to leave though their associate was on the way. The manager couldn't wrap his/her mind around the fact that Black men were waiting for a business associate. Then the police were called. This was a racially motivated incident. Nothing more, nothing less.

The New Jim Crow strikes again.

Did you see how many cops there was? Even buke cops with their helmets!!

Did you see the WHITE people even jumping in like they didn't do anything this is crazy? WHITE people felt this was wrong but lik kev is saying forgive and forget. Hopefully this is the final nail needed to get rid of his stupid ass.

kevin hart needs to shut the fuck up and hop his little ass back on stage clowning that he cheated on his pregnant WIVES. bum. no kind of man with with intergity/morals...so of course he is going to sell out with the quickness. thank goodness nothing happened to the young man..probably because a white man showed up. i wonder what would have happened if the firend that came had been black. hell, he probably would've been arrested too! the whole situation was uncalled for. i read the manager was yelling across the romm shouting at them to get out. why all the damn drama for. the person sounds unhingded. she needs to be fired not just moved. and until starbucks makes that amend. boycott their ass because basically they are supporting racism in their stores by not permantely removing this person. she might go off again on someone black and that person ends up dead by the police.

Prejudicial means to "pre-judge". Kevin has concluded this was an isolated issue, and should not reflect on the corporation. It seems that Kevin is putting commerce above character in the guise of being impartial to the brand. No bueno Kevin! Where is your heart?

He must own a few starbucks

Right!! 8:45 drives me nuts!

^^^ no her wrote he has no affiliation with them. He just LUVS him some white folk!

I hope Philly feels the same way when he's trying to peddle some tickets to make people laugh as he talks abiut cheat9on his FIRST and SECOND wife.

Nigga saw his career flash before his eyes, he feels he owes them.

Anonymous said...

Sounds good. then the company should stand up, denounce the employee and fire them.

until then...boycott!

Anonymous said...

Stop going to starbucks. They want a "certain" type of black person there. One that is aesthetically pleasing to the brand.

Anonymous said...

this will be an awesome lawsuit against starbuck and the police department. Neither accessed the issue properly

Shut up Kevin Hart - short weird MF.

Also, Black people don't boycott anymore anyway. Maybe I missed it but when was the last time Black people really got together, organized and truly boycotted something? Black people now don't have the same resolve and desire to make things better for those coming after us like our Grand-parents and great grand-parents did for us. Black people nowadays ain't going to en masse boycott anything where we are inconvenienced or have to do without. Sure, we will march and protest but boycott? Nah.

Starbucks don't need your black ass caping you sellout ,go back to doing goat yoga with them yt devils bitch

The only time I has seen black people come together to change something is when they got the show focused on greek life being removed from TV

Thank you. As for Kevin sit yo black ass down with I'm a new CEO excuse for thinking like one. That Starbucks need to be sued. Its way past the time for us collectively to stand up against systematic racism. Fuck that!!! Starbucks is overrated and overpriced any damn way, I don't give a shit how much them dusty ass fake jews and their cultural appropriation of Mami Wata as the logo for their business, don't think we don't know who that woman on yo damn cup is, I don't care how their coffee goes though the process it does, I have never been impressed with the coffee and all the other yuppie bullshit that goes along with it, this age of Aquarius will have hoes who step out of line, exposed left and right. You can't discriminate against people when your run a business that supposedly "caters" to the public at large, where they do that fuckery at?

12:20pm and 1:18pm Google the police excessive force boycotts in Boston in the 90s, the Trayvon Martin Black Friday Boycott, and the ongoing Baldwin Hills/Compton gentrification organizing that's going on right now.

Have you ever thought you "never hear about it" because the mainstream media chooses not to cover Black people making targeted, non-emotional, pragmatic finance decisions. In the cases I mentioned there is quantitative reporting that the Black dollar is important to the economy, but there's a concerted effort to pretend it's not the case to further shut us out. America owes it's now dwindling wealth to our free labor. Coupled with stealing our intellectual property and mimicing it poorly, America would have nothing without the blood sweat and tears of Black and First Nations people.

Perhaps be a little more intellectually curious before you make declarative statements backed with no facts. You're part of the problem and with what's coming we don't really have room for the ignorant Negroidian antics of the 00s.

Things are getting serious and it's time for you to get serious too.

PPL LOVE ASSUMING AND JUMPING INTO CONCLUSIONS

Anonymous said...

No...What had happened was...Kevin got a call from his Yt Massa and was told to make things right or suffer the consequences and so he di and this is why we are here now. The PTB will never allow their puppet to deliberately cause them lose money. They'd fix it until Kevin himself wouldn't be able to find a job at a fast food joint.

Fuck him! I've been boycotting his lame short nasty ass anyway. Boycott starbucks until their stock plummets. They treat their employees like shit anyway. If you are a black person in that company they will promote all of the mixed race, Mexican, white, Asian employees before they would promote a dark skinned black person.

Just an observation said...

I hate cops.

Felicia said...

I live in San Francisco, homeless folks with blankets sit in Starbucks all day without incident. And some panhandle inside the location . Of course their hue is White!!

I hate them because even though I have giventhem my card to pay they still misspell my name. Felisha burns my bridges!!

I am petty but that’s a pet peeve of mine..

Felicia said...

I worked at Trader Joe’s for a year and the company had no problem with customers being racist toward us black customers at all..

All that shit stressed me out. Been off of work since Sept 17. Getting my disability!! I will not make no excuses for these racists demons. They will spit vile racist stereotypes to your face and tell you it’s not racist. I would tell them straight up, you meant harm and you’re very racist. I was hated..

Felicia I broke it down to this chick following me CLOSELY in old navy and these two young kids following me in Target. I mean they was readjusting shit as I was putting it back. Like stepping on the back of my shoes.

I asked both times so it doesn't bother you that your manager only tells you to follow people that look like YOU? Only BLACK people? Like only westeal? They looked so embarrassed and had nothing to say. I'm like yall got white tourists all up in here and it's an adrenaline rush for them to steal. You see I have several bags from several different stores and you think I choose HERE to steal from?

Not Macy's or Sephora but here?

I hope it gave them something to think about.

Ironic that the white manager of Starbucks was following the bathroom policy made by the black CEO of Starbucks who has a 23 yr old black son.

Never found Kevin Hart funny. What is he the CEO of? Himself?. He's lame. I dont go in Starbucks. Early in their history they were a sign of gentrification.. plus overpriced. But I have used the restroom without purchase.

3:12 Those are false equivalencies I'm calling out National en masse boycotts now. Not in the 90's. Not a one day Black Friday sale (that was so-so). Not in a neighborhood. Like I said. Black people do not organize in large groups now to affect long term change like we used to. Black people will not organize and boycott Star Bucks nationally. Forgot nationally -- it wouldn’t happen state wide or even city wide....may be a small group will boycott a single store and that would not produce real change to the entire corporation.

As you said there are a few small boycotts we don't hear about and it’s because they are not being effective. Successful boycotts require long term commitment by many people.

The proposed NFL boycott fizzled. Black people cared more about watching and attending football games than supporting Colin Kaepernick and the what he was protesting. We no longer organize and sacrifice for a sustained boycott that produces real change.

Also, please post a link about the successful Baldwin Hills/Compton gentrification boycott.
