It's not looking good for Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network...
According to reports OWN is facing more than $150 million in losses this year and it's co-owner Discovery is considering pulling the plug altogether. Unless something happens and fast, OWN could be facing the axe.
Oprah, its time to pull a rabbit out the hat... STAT!!!

ReplyDelete@1:01 some versions say "their memory is forgotten", so I've always taken it to mean that the dead no longer have memory. But it could mean that, generations down the line, the person is forgotten if there is no one alive who can remember.

ReplyDeleteI knew OWN was in trouble with the news that Oprah is trying to get Maria Shriver to do/produce a show. Can't Oprah get any fresh talent for a change? If she thinks Maria Shriver can pull in the ratings she's sadly mistaken. Oprah ought to just throw in the towel on OWN and call it a day. If she's smart she won't spend her own money on trying to revive OWN because she'll never get it back.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping they'll put Discovery Health back on to replace OWN. The stories of Dr. G. Medical Examiner doing autopsies were more exciting than the usual OWN programming.
The network wasn't all that bad folks...I watch it everyday.

Oprah needs to sit back and enjoy her money, and then find people on the low and help them realize their dreams, that's what I do with my money. people are so surprised when they find out that someone has paid their $500 grocery bill or that their rent is paid for the next six months. There is nothing better than helping those who need it, or watching people realize their dreams...this is what Oprah needs to do! She also needs to watch her health.

ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is not a good look for Oprah. This has to be quite humiliating for someone of her influence and caliber. I wonder how she's taking all of this? I remember she talked about how disappointed she felt when the world didn't accept her movie, 'Beloved.' The failure of OWN is on a whole new level.
Personally, I fear for her safety. She's lost millions of dollars in this partnership with the Discovery Network. You know she's pissed off a lot of people.
I wonder why she never tried to acquire the rights to AMC and OLTL...those two soaps alone would've brought in huge viewership for her channel...

ReplyDeleteI think Oprah took on too much, on top of that, there are tons of people who might not want to see her succeed. If she can get better programming, she can probably save her network.
Discovery Health shows were switched over to another channel called FITHLTH, all of the Discovery Health shows are now shown on that channel.
