R Kelly Dropped from Music Fest After Protests

After two bands and a radio sponsor pull out R. Kelly is dropped as the headliner of an Ohio music festival…

Columbus, Ohio’s Fashion Meets Music Festival axed R. Kelly from the line-up after local bands Damn the Witch Siren, Saintseneca and radio station WCBE 90.5 FM pulled out of the music fest citing R Kelly's reputation as a sexual predator [click here if you missed that].

In a strongly worded statement to the media Saintseneca explained,
“We feel R. Kelly’s selection as a performer ignores his very serious allegations of sexual violence and assault. “We feel it is an affront to all survivors, who are already often overlooked and forgotten in our society.”
Saintseneca also announced plans to perform at a benefit concert for survivors of sexual abuse on the same day as the music festival.

Add that with the growing backlash on social media and R. Kelly was out.

Event organizers said in a statement released today,
“We wanted to make sure we heard the Columbus listeners… to make a statement and support the city we live in.”
