Tyler Perry Leaving OWN?


Last year there were rumors Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey were bumping heads at Oprah's OWN Network because Tyler was refusing to accept constructive criticism of his work [click here if you missed that].

In totally unrelated news Tyler Perry just signed a new production deal with Viacom...

According to reports Tyler Perry has signed a deal to produce 90 episodes of original drama and comedy content per year for BET and other Viacom networks.

Tyler also inked a first look deal with Paramount Pictures for all future Tyler Perry films.

While Tyler is still under contract with with OWN, his deal with Viacom begins May 2019.

Tyler confirms the news explaining,
“Viacom has a rich tradition of reaching my audience through their TV, film and digital platforms and I am excited to partner with them. I am eager to have one home where I can leverage all of their assets to tell my stories to an even wider audience. I have been very blessed to have worked with the incredible people at Lionsgate and OWN over the last few years and I look forward to continuing my work with them on a non-exclusive basis.”
