I agree with everything she said except the “unconscious prejudice”. They knew they were going photoshop her hair. If they really wanted respect her wishes they could’ve called her and I asked her how she felt about adding hair to her already elegant crown. But they didn’t. They think they have they know how we should look. Especially when we are very comfortable in our greatness.
Girl bye, that ponytail wasn't all that. She's worn a bald head before so no need to feign outrage. I'm sure every cover model knows that the photo will be photoshopped in some way. She act like they gave her baby hair...
ok thank yall! You ladies tell the truth and shame the devil and I love it! I honestly thought that they had added that little puff to her hair instead of her normal bald look. I think she looks more regal without it, truth be told.
They did her a favor. Not many women can rock bald but she has the features for it. Also, bald is as natural as it gets if you ask me but ain't nobody asking lol
Wasn't the same thing done to Solange with another magazine? Before they agree to do these covers, they need to maintain some sort of artistic control over their images. Read your agreements before you move forward.
Sorry but she should be able to have her own ponytail. Like imagine wearing fake hair or or shaving ur head were ur two options. Gtfo, u go girl. Strength and truth r hotter.
If I loaned my beautiful black image to someone else for business purposes, I too, would be upset that changes were made without my knowledge, in the name of what they thought my black and beautiful should look like. And to see how passionate she is about putting this type of beauty on display, makes me respect this woman even more. Here it is she has the opportunity to become "Hollywood"...nip, tuck and bleach, like so many have already partaken in. Subtle and not so subtle. How many times have we seen this? How many times has this image been forced upon our race for our little ones to try to aspire to become, thinking there's no beauty to them unless they can become this stereotypical type of so-called beauty.---Kudos to Lupita. With you taking this stance, I'm sure you make our ancestors proud. Not to mention all the mothers out there who love and cherish their dark skinned, tightly coiled hair beautiful daughters, who have the G-d given right to stand in their own beauty without shame. Ase.
Would they cut out a white womans ponytail? No. Many Black women and girls have ponytails like that. Thats why it’s important that it be included🤷🏿♂️ Wasn’t there an entire campaign in South Africa last year because a Little Black girl was told to perm her Afro puff by her school? That’s why it’s important Lupita’s unpermed hair make the cover...
Snitch you need to block these hating ass trolls that have taken over your comment section going on 6 months. Shit is tired, they hate black people but are in here 24/7 ready to talk crap. And it’s one person with multiple accounts. Let me take my ass to YouTube and watch Queens Court, next caller bitch.

She looks better without the ponytail.
I don't see where they smoothed out anything but how trifling to not make her aware of their intentions.

It looked better without the poof. The way she's talking I thought they photoshopped a silky wig on her ass.

She is beautiful either way, but the pic without the pony is more striking and elegant. But I feel where she's coming from.

even Weinstein wouldn't acknowledge this woman.
bitch have a seat.
Not unconscious at all!!!
She's shredding her brand for sure....and I don't even see why she'd mention Harvey. SMH

Thank you for loving your natural beauty.
THANK YOU!
People so sensitive now. Quit crying about everything and grow up.
Lupita you need to be in Africa somewhere grinding corn meal. Don't come to America and complain hoe. You think life is easy??

It might just be me but I think she looks better without that damn ponytail.

I agree, the one without the ponytail looks classier. Either way, she's beautiful!
