Kirk Franklin Vows to Boycott the Dove Awards

Gospel singer Kirk Franklin announces he is boycotting the Dove Awards after they cut the social justice portion of his acceptance speech for the second year in a row...

In a video posted online Kirk speaks about the so-called difference between "Christian" and "Gospel" music and the Dove vs the Stellar awards and goes on to explain how he felt moved as a Black man to address political unrest first in 2016 for Philando Castile, a licensed to carry driver who was shot dead by police during a traffic stop for a busted tail night after announcing he was carrying a concealed weapon and most recently for Atatiana Jefferson who was killed in her own home by police who were called for a welfare check because her neighbor noticed her front door was open.

Apparently after The Dove Awards cut his speech in 2016 they promised it would never happen again, but after Kirk spoke out about Atatiana Jefferson this week, that portion was cut once again.
