Last year music executive LA Reid sold 100% of his music catalogue to Hipgnosis Songs Fund [click here if you missed that].
Now John Legend has sold his music rights as well...
From The NY Daily News
The singer, songwriter and producer is the latest star to sell his music catalog.
Like some of pop music’s greatest such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Tina Turner and Stevie Nicks, Legend has cashed in by selling the rights to his catalogs of songs and recording royalties.
According to a public filing back in September, cited by Bloomberg, the 12-time Grammy Award-winning crooner sold both the copyrights to and royalties from music he wrote from late 2004 through early last year.
BMG Rights Management, the international music company which has worked with the artist since acquiring his music publisher, Cherry Lane Music Publishing Co., in 2010, bought the rights, in partnership with the private equity firm KKR & Co.
Financial terms were not disclosed.

Springsteen sold his for $700M but he's in his early 70s.
It's hard out here for regular folks- so you know the celebs on the lower end of the million dollar spectrum are feeling it too. Plus, John stood by Chrissy who was being blackballed and cancelled for her bullying tweets. That had to have hurt his finances too. Well, hopefully Chrissy's brings in some coins... or, they can put their adorable kids on the fame whore stroll...
His versions of Christmas songs made me irrationally angry this past Christmas and I enjoy most versions of the classics. Good for him for getting some money from his terrible music.
It's my understanding that these musicians are doing this to avoid the taxes that they incur by Uncle Sam. The pandemic also played a huge factor as well. And, touring isn't what it used to be.
Hmmmm, interesting.
LOL about the Christmas music
The ppl that purchased his music should have bought his music for a $1.39 at the Dollar store. His struggling vocals and half ass production skills are not worth a dime.
He makes good money on the Voice and all the other award shows he appears on. That should make him enough coins to live off of.
Put Chrissy on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Vine, to sell Flat Face Mag pies. A quarter for each pie she sells the buyer gets to smash in her face. She would make a Millie.
I was never fan.
Whatever it sold for it was overpriced.
Who purchased that "Elevator Music?@
DEAD @ irrationally angry & Flat Face Mag pies.
@1:12
I hollered! His struggle music is indeed terrible. It's no wonder the amount he received was not disclosed.
^^I meant @1:18
Lol to all yal
No need for a music catalogue when you're dead.
Modeling career over, maybe? His career, not popular anymore...They needed money. .Getting famous for singing and modeling is no longer a millionaire maker.. Music is basically free. No one can afford to buy fashion on the runway anymore. People are the working poor mostly... The world has changed. To find a high paying job ,might not be possible...People going to college for subjects they cant find a career in...We need stymulaas checks for a few years...The only way famous people make money is to tour. I will never attend another concert, I don't want to be trampled and khilled...Acting seems to be the only money maker. I noticed famous people making commercials.. Merch is a big deal, I see people like B working with big name brands. Ri has a very successful business...She wouldn't have that if she wasn't who she was..
Having that wife who does basically nothing but spend will have his ass in the poor house.
He'd better budget and put something to the side for his kids. smdh.
