Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyers say they plan to accuse his ex-girlfriend Cassie of domestic violence during his six trafficking trial.
Reuters reported that Diddy’s defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo said during a jury selection hearing in a New York City court on Friday, May 9, that he would attempt to undercut Cassie’s credibility by referring to allegations of mutual violence during her relationship with the mogul. (Diddy and Cassie were together off and on between 2007 and 2018.)
“I think we’re probably going to refer to that as domestic violence,” Agnifilo told the court.
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian indicated that he would decide next Monday, May 12, whether allegations of domestic violence could be admissible during the trial.
Cassie, 38, is expected to be called by the prosecution to testify as a star witness as Diddy faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of six trafficking and two counts of transportation for prostitution. Diddy, 55, has denied all allegations.
