Cher has reflected on her relationship with boyfriend Alexander 'AE' Edwards, revealing she believes she manifested the rapper and his young son into her life.

The music icon, 79, made the surprising admission on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast this week, where she described her 39-year-old partner as 'wonderful' and claimed he is one of only two men she has ever dated who she truly deserves.

'Before I met him, I walked around my house saying, "I want a man and a toddler,"' the Believe singer revealed. 'I wasn't expecting them together, but that's what I wanted. I was expecting them separately.'

The Grammy winner got exactly what she asked for when she began dating Alexander just over three years ago, as he shares six-year-old son Slash with ex-girlfriend Amber Rose.

The mother of two has become close with the youngster and recently took him to see a show. 'I've just seen The Lion King because we have a six-year-old. And he's really precocious,' she said.

'His dad ended up chasing us, and I had a guard there, and he [Slash] goes up to the guard, and he takes his face, and he goes, "My dad's a psychopath!"'

The Strong Enough hitmaker was quick to clarify with a laugh: 'He's not'.
