Drake Files Appeal for Kendrick Lamar Verdict

Last year Canadian rapper Drake's historic defamation of character lawsuit against Universal Music Group for distributing Kendrick Lamar's Drake diss track, "Not Like Us, was dismissed [click here if you missed that].

Now Drake had filed his appeal...

From StereoGum
According to his legal team's 60-page document, Kendrick's lyrics state as an "unambiguous matter of fact" that Drake is a "certified pdf file," and Universal "relentlessly" promoted the song, causing Drake significant harm. "The court effectively created an unprecedented and overbroad categorical rule that statements in rap diss tracks can never constitute statements of fact," his attorney writes.
UMG's response to the brief is due March 27.

He is going to ruin what's left of his career by not taking his L with dignity.

A common theme with Young Money is that they don't know when the show is over.

He doesn't have to ruin his career. Kendrick did it for him.

Maybe it’s time for the courts to make him liable and the least make him pay court costs. I’m so sick of this female, what a d**k

He has lost the culture when he filed suit and starting collecting the icons memorabilia and ex-girl friends like Pokemon cards. He had a good 10 year run where he made enough money for his grand kids if managed properly. He is still going off ego, Kendrick had a bigger global response than he did in a fight that he started. It's not the labels fault, just the nature of battle. He lost and will keep taking the L as long as he drags the law suit along.
