Is Usher Holding Up His Divorce?
He is according to reports. They say all the i's have been dotted and all the t's have been crossed but the only thing holding up the divorce is that Usher keeps putting off signing the papers. Incidentally [or not] Usher released his new single 'Papers' yesterday. The song is about...wait for it...signing divorce papers.

Precious Inspires Tyler Perry to Speak About his Own Abuse

Before each of Tyler Perry's film releases he always sends out a newsletter bringing his fans up to speed on what's been going on in his life, what inspired his latest film, and a humble request for his fans to support it. Although he didn't write or direct 'Precious based on the novel Push by Sapphire' he was so moved by the similarities between himself and the main character he felt compelled to reveal his own tales of abuse and survival. In a series of 'memories' Tyler recalls how he and his mother were beaten senseless by his father, childhood sexual abuse by both male and female adults and the abuses he suffered at the hands of his paternal grandmother.
You can read the letter posted on Tyler's website by clicking here.
Jim Jones Pleds Guilty

Remember when Harlem rapper Jim Jones jumped somebody from Ne-Yo's entourage in a New York Louis Vuitton store on Christmas Eve last year[click here if you missed that]? Well, after initially denying it, Jim pled guilty to misdemeanour assault in a Manhattan court yesterday.
Jimmy was sentenced to time served, which he completed shortly after being arrested for the fight. Jim still maintains his innocence and says he only pleaded out to shorten his probation so it wouldn't interfere with his touring schedule.
The Problem With Good Hair

Chris Rock's new film Good Hair hasn't even hit theaters yet and already it's hit a nap snag. Regina's film features celebrities talking about various hair styles like the conk, press and curls, Afros, Jheri curls, and dreadlocks. Regina is seeking 'no less than $5 million dollars' in damages and legal fees.

Monique Doesn't Care About Winning an Oscar

so says one of her frienemies. Monique has been subject of serious side eyes ever since she refused to do any promo for the film Precious based on the novel Push by Sapphire unless she was paid. By all accounts this is Monique's break-out role and could even earn her an Oscar, but according to her big mouth pal, Monique says, "When people say, 'You care more about money than winning an Oscar,' well, what does an Oscar mean? An Oscar means more work when you win it, and that means more money! I couldn't eat that Oscar. Everybody needs money, baby. That's how we survive, right?" As expected Monique was a no-show for the Friday night premiere in NY, but everybody else was there. Click here for pictures.
Unfortunatly for her, those in the know say the film's producers, Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry have instructed the studio stop campaigning for Monique and instead put their Oscar efforts behind Mariah Carey [<--the same Mariah Carey who stared in Glitter? ok].
Gyant Unplugged Sheds Light on Shakir Stewart Suicide?
Atlanta blogger Gyant interviewed former Bad Boy artist Mark Curry who recently wrote a book exposing Bad Boy Records. Maybe exposing is too strong a word. Curry really just confirms everything you've always heard about Bad Boy all the way down to the Voodoo. I kid you not, Curry says Diddy's advisers taught him how to put voodoo on his artists. Anyway, at around the 8:12 mark Curry begins to explain the hoops you have to jump through to get the million dollar contracts and then cryptically adds, "That's the kind of stuff that will make you kill yourself." And if you didn't catch the hint, Gyant breaks in and all but confirms Shakir Stewart is who Curry is talking about.
