American Gangster doesn't open until November 2nd, but a high quality bootleg has already hit the Internet and according to the Wall Street Journal the copy is so good it has Universal studios worried. John Desmond, an executive with online piracy-research company MediaSentry, told the WSJ that if a bootleg copy is going to be offered online, it's best for the studios if it's of poor quality (like movies camcorded in theaters) since most consumers would rather buy a theater ticket than watch a poor-quality bootleg copy. The bootleg version of American Gangster appears to be in pristine condition and lacks even the "not-for-distribution" scroll that identifies screeners.

Scandal at Oprah's Leadership Academy for Girls
Earlier this week news of a some sort of scandal at Oprah Winfrey's South African Leadership Academy for Girls leaked out, but with very few details. Well the details are out and it ain't nice. The house mother who was dismissed was accused of choking one girl and slamming another against a wall, along with cursing and screaming at other girls and getting freaky with at least one them. Girls have fled the school and others have been removed by their parents. Oprah had to go all the way to Africa for that? She could have gotten that here.
Lil Wayne Owes His Jeweler
Jack Sutton Fine Jewelry in New Orleans is suing Lil’ Wayne for $146,000 he still owes on a $138,000 diamond ring and $32,000 gold-and-diamond necklace purchase: The handmade platinum ring contains an 11.55 carat, princess-cut diamond surrounded by an additional five carats of invisible set princess diamonds. The 32-inch necklace is draped with ice — four rows deep, 105 carats total weight — in 18 karat white gold. Weezy agreed to pay monthly installments, the suit says. Sutton received a $24,000 check on Oct. 12. The next $24,000 check was dated Jan. 18. Sutton deposited it, only to learn a stop payment had been issued. Sutton says he tried to reach Carter, sending e-mails to the artist’s finacial advisor to no avail. "He spent a lot of money with me. I thought we have a really good relationship. I don’t know what happened, unless it’s a misunderstanding.” Sutton says.Tracy Didn't Make It 90 Days

Diddy Signs Ciroc Vodka Deal
Sean "Diddy" Combs inked a multi-year deal to develop the Ciroc vodka brand — one of Diageo PLC's superpremium lines — for a 50-50 share in the profits. Diageo said the agreement could be worth more than $100 million for Combs over the course of the deal, depending on how well the brand performs. "It is not an endorsement deal," Combs told The Associated Press on Tuesday night. "This is something that will have my daily attention." Combs said he wanted to work with Diageo because the company understood that "I'm not just a celebrity endorser, I'm a brand builder. I'm a luxury brand builder."
You Know Ain't Norhing To Talk About When We Start Talking Bout Ed Lover But...
Ed beat an assault case brought by a woman who says he cold cocked her and left her face permanently scarred. Lover, 43, was sentenced in Manhattan to seven days' community service for the December 2005 confrontation at Duvet on West 21st Street. In pleading guilty to a violation, Lover, a morning DJ on Power 105.1, did not admit punching the woman as originally charged, and will not have a criminal record. The plea left victim Letitia Belford, 28, from Middlesex County, dumbfounded and furious at prosecutors. Belford said she had eyewitnesses ready to testify that Lover - real name James Roberts - cold-cocked her out of nowhere as she argued at the club with Lover's gal pal. But prosecutors knew Lover had his own friends ready to testify that Lover punched her in self-defense after she threatened him with a glass - which she adamantly denies.

T.I. Incriminates Himself in Latest Interview

Before he went to jail for illeagally trying to purchase a bunch of semi-automatic weapons and silencers, T.I. did an Interview with Complex Magazine.
Complex: Have you seen [Ludacris’s manager] Chaka Zulu since you had an altercation with him back in June?"
T.I.: I've seen him, but I didn't speak to him. That situation was whatever. If you come out your face and say something, then you can expect me to go off. You should watch your mouth. I think my manager spoke to him. I got a great life and wonderful children, and I do intend to be here to guide them for the rest of their lives, and that’s what’s most important to me. Maybe when I was 18 or 19 runnin’ the streets and shootin’ pistols, but I’m not gonna blow that for one of these cats who don’t happen to live by the same principles as me."

Debates are raging across the Internet on whether or not she deserved the cover, but the point of selling magazines is to sell them right? Before this came up, I didn't even realize TBW was still in print.
