Earlier this year R&B singer Brandy was involved in a multi-car, fatal accident on an LA freeway. At the time, stories were swirling that Brandy caused the crash and that she'd be charged with vehicular homicide or reckless driving or something and the husband and parents of the victim immediately filed multi-million dollar wrongful death suits against Brandy. Well, it turns out Brandy wasn't at fault and won't be facing any charges. The accident investigation showed that the woman who was killed caused the multi-car pile up when she smashed into the car in front of her [toxicology reports showed traces of Marijuana in her system] so all those lawsuits filed against Brandy will be dropped

Even if it was homegirl from around the way, why would she be in jail. The final reports say it wasn't her fault. Plus it was the CHP that was pointing the finger at Brandy in the first place. They were proven wrong once things were fully investigated. For once, celebrity had nothing to do with it.
Like I said, if she was Brandy from rounddaway, the CHP pointing a finger at her would've been plenty nuff. Like it or not, celebrity status has a lot to do with situations like these. Had a lot to do with Paris Hilton's joke of a jail sentence...had a lot to do with Nicole Richie serving an even more ridiculous 23 minute jail sentence (wtf?)... celebrity status = money = high-priced lawyers = lesser punishments. It's why celebrities can get caught with coke and weed and get sentenced to rehab and public service, while everyday people do time for that same shit.
Sure, these people were quick to try and get some money outta Brandy, but if you think her status as a celebrity didn't play a significant role in her being cleared, you need a check-up.

I'm glad that she was cleared since she wasn't at fault. Every picture I have seen of her this year looked like she had the weight of the world on her shoulders and I don't think she took this lightly like some celebrities that get in trouble (because of their own reckless behavior non the less). I really hope that she can get past this, I hope it pushed it closer to her family and God and not drugs or alcohol.

Brandy's fame had very little to do with this outcome. It's not like Brandy was all up in the cameras crying like Paris Hilton and turning the whole thing into a circus. If anything her fame caused people to assume that the accident was all her fault. I agree with the person who said Brandy looked like she was carrying the weight of the world while this whole thing played out.
Besides the traces of marijuana use, witnesses have already said that the dead girl was driving too fast and had actually crashed into the car in front of her before she even got hit from behind by Brandy.

Weather you like the STYLE or not...her outfit looks like a straight OILILY joint to me..........and if you know ANYTHING about nice kids clothes you would know OILILY is at the top of the list. My kids have questionable taste in my opinion but as long as they're clean and does not expose too much they can wear what they want. Their clothing is a reflection on their individual tastes not me.

Everyone in the post knows that if Brandy was involved in an accident that killed thier family member they would be in a lawyers office so fast expecting to get paid so stop fronting.
The report said that they didn't have enough evidence to charge her with vehicular manslaughter not that she wasn't involved. The woman had trace amounts of mary j in her system she wasn't sky high as some people are stating. This was an accident and Brandy was involved although I don't think she was driving reckless however she is going to get slammed in the civil suit whether she wants to or not.
Everyone's got a right to sue. That don't mean they all got a right to get paid.
If the dead girl caused the accident, and it sounds like she did, that will take a lot of the heat off Brandy. But since the actual cause of the accident is dead, the rest of the victims will be looking for the one with the biggest purse and unfortunately for Brandy that's her.

I don't know what state some of you live in BUT I've never seen ANYONE go to jail for drunk driving so why the hell would Brandy serve jail time for this??? The accident was in December 2006 and the District Attorney had until December 30, 2007 to file charges, against the advice of the California Highway Patrol. The family will probably win in their civil trial. Witnesses said that Brandy was text messaging on her cell phone while in the fast lane and didn't see the car when it slowed down in front of her. Insurance companies would call it comparitive negligence. But, usually, whenever you hit another car from the rear, you are at fault because you were traveling too close.
