Lupita Nyong'o Rihanna Movie Gets the Green Light

Last month Black Twitter dreamed up a movie starring pop star Rihanna and Academy Award winning actress Lupita Nyong'o based on a photo of the two of them sitting front row at the Miu Miu show during Paris Fashion Week 2014 [click here if you missed that].

The movie is officially a go...

According to reports Netflix won a fierce bidding war at the Cannes Film festival over the unnamed project that will see Ava DuVernay direct and Issa Rae writing the screenplay.

No other information is known at this time.

This is going to be a comedy, rigth? Monique better see if she can get a spot on here since it's not being produced by the LOT group. Wink, wink.

Oops, never mind is being directed by one of Oprah agents of evil Ava so we won't be seeing mo on it.

Won't be watching. Fuck Rihanna. The bitch can't act. Find a real black actress.

I like Lupita but I can't believe she went along with this mess.

I thinks its great and even better that its gonna be a BLACK GIRL MAGIC Project. And NETFLIX scooped it up, I am here for it.

Neither are worth watching onscreen but ok.

Please enough with this #BlackGirlMagic shit. And I am a Black woman and I say this.

Look, I am proud to be a Black woman. I think Black women are beautiful and strong. I am always happy to see other Black women doing good for themselves, loving themselves and their families. I am loving Black women embracing their natural beauty. But I can't STAND this Black Girl Magic campaign.

Something about it rubs me the wrong way. I love the Black Girls Rock campaign, My Black is Beautiful and the Colored Girl Campaign. But this Black Girl Magic shit comes off as some Instagram, hashtag, shallow shit. Every time I see Black Girl Magic, it is always associated with the same damn celebtards (Beyonce, Rihanna, Solange, Janelle Monae, Willow Smith, that Amandla chick, Zendaya). It comes off too trendy, as if Black girls are the "Flavor of the Month" type thing. Unlike Black Girls Rock or My Black is Beautiful, Black Girl Magic is usually associate with shallow, trashy, or superficial things about Black women. This BGM is for faux deep Black chicks that worship Beyonce, Solange and Rihanna.

I agree. I am just going to be perfect honest, I love Lupita. But she is gorgeous and should stick to modeling (she is beautiful on camera) and working behind the scenes as a producer, writer and director.

As for Rihanna--NO COMMENT. She needs to thank her lucky stars she got this far in life with NO talent.

aww just seems like a fun film. imagine the fashion. to the post about the black girl magic trend. i read a good article recently where talked about the same thing how bgm can be a bit problometic and too celebrity focused. truth is not all of us our magic..it's like beyonce's flawless mess. truth is some of us have issues or flaws or frankly no talent ie like rhi rhi lol so where does that leave those black girls? i get the point of bgm it's just another why black women are trying to affirm themselves in a world that does not affirm us but there are some problems with it. but other than that i see nothing wrong with this film hell worse crap on tv lol

This makes no sense.
